We’re so proud to see our boys wear the fern for the New Zealand Men’s Roller Derby World Cup 2026 in Orleans, France.

Watching them grow from determined young skaters into, strong, skilled, and inspiring athletes has been something truely special. Their dedication, teamwork, and passion for the sport shine through in everything they do.

To see them pushing boundaries, lifting each other up, and representing their club with so much pride reminds us why we love this sport and this community.

Let’s give them all the love and support as they take on this incredible opportunity.

We are on the hunt for FRESH MEAT!!!!!!!!

As Freshies we will take you step by step through our Star training programme, ensuring you know how to saftey and effectively complete skills in a positive environment while having heaps of FUN!

We are a positive league of skaters from a variety of backgrounds, prepared to encourage all to get involved and feel part of the team.

Men, Women and Juniors ages 6+ - anyone is welcome!

Our first intake starts on Thursday 12th March and runs for 15 weeks. Portland Recreation Centre, McGill Road, Portland.
Once you graduate then you are ready for your first bout!

Each session runs from 6.30-8pm. Arrive from 6pm to get your skates and safety gear on! Gear provided.

Last night was our first training back for 2026!
Some warm ups, skills, a few tricks and roller hockey to remind our ankles how to skate!

Our new fresh meat sessions are coming back! Want to learn new skills, get fit, meet cool people and HAVE FUN.... Roller Derby is for anyone.

The Ella-Rose Memorial Cup was presented to the amazing Black Widow #13

The Ella-Rose Donker Memorial Award is given in loving memory of our fierce, unforgettable teammate, Ella-Rose Donker — Miss Brutiful #12. Ella was an absolute menace on the track in the best possible way: tough, gritty, fearless, and always ready to leave everything she had out there. Her potty mouth was legendary, her competitiveness unmatched, and her heart for the game was bigger than anything else. She hated to lose, but she loved her team even more.

This award is presented to the player who reminds us of Ella — someone who plays with fire, determination, loyalty, and unapologetic passion. Someone who shows up, hits hard, gives everything, and pours their whole heart into every jam.

It’s not just about skill.
It’s about spirit.
It’s about attitude.
It’s about heart — Ella’s heart.

Thank you to everyone who supported our journey to the 2025 Junior Roller Derby World Cup!

Our team showed immense courage, grit and resilience every step of the way. These young athletes gave it everything they had, representing Aotearoa with heart and fierce determination.

After a strong group stage and advancing through the semifinals, they battled fiercely in the bronze‑medal final - an intense Trans-Tasman showdown against Australia losing by 2 points in the final seconds of the game to finish 4th. An unforgettable game that had everyone on their feet to the nail-biting end.

We are incredibly proud of their achievements, both on and off the track. Their commitment, sportsmanship, and passion for the sport are truly inspiring, and they have represented Aotearoa with pride, courage, and heart.
