Playball is a specialised foundation phase sport and movement programme, offering six different age appropriate year long programmes for children aged 2-9 years. Playball arrived in Northland after coach Dean discovered this fantastic programme whilst teaching in Auckland. Playball Northland currently have midweek, Saturday and afterschool classes running in Whangarei, Ruakaka, One Tree Point and

Kerikeri for children aged 2-9 years of age. Coach Dean and his team have a passion for sport and an excellent understanding of children's development through play and activities. Playball gives children the confidence and competency in skills from a variety of different sports including: soccer, basketball, netball, hockey, rugby, tennis, cricket, baseball and volleyball. Comment “IMPULSE” if your child or students struggle with impulse control…

When primitive reflexes are retained, they can interfere with how the brain processes and responds to information, making it harder for a child to pause, regulate, and think before acting.

Children with retained reflexes may experience:
🧠Trouble sustaining attention in the classroom
🧠Emotional reactivity or quick frustration
🧠Difficulty following directions or completing tasks
🧠Challenges with memory, processing, and comprehension

Certain reflexes can impact how the brain sends and interprets messages, leading to struggles with attention, focus, and behavior regulation.

Supporting these foundational areas can help improve regulation, attention, and overall learning.

These updates include fun new segments focused on:
✅ Safe space & activation
✅ Strength & conditioning
✅ Smart skills for learning, spatial awareness & motor planning

Our curriculum has been specially designed to help kids get moving more, tackle screen time, and build confidence — all while keeping our signature Playball fun at the heart of every session. 🏃‍♂️⚽🎨

We have just launched two significant program upgrades for our three (Watch me Play) and four-year-old (Move and Play) programs. These are coming in TERM 2!! Woohoo!

These updates include new segments focused on safe space, activation, conditioning, and smart skills. These elements are designed to enhance learning ability, strength, spatial awareness, and motor planning. The curriculum was specifically developed to address educator concerns regarding the decrease in outdoor play and the increase in screen time among children.

While we have introduced these new features, our core sports skills and sequences remain central to the program. Everything is delivered through our signature creative approach to ensure our Playballers have a whole lot of fun. We am confident you won't find a better program elsewhere!
