Sports Development is back next week at Studio 51 💪

One thing I love about coaching teens is helping them realise just how capable they are.

So many young people are playing sport, but not enough are being taught how to:
✔ move well
✔ build strength safely
✔ improve mobility
✔ become more powerful
✔ help prevent injuries

That’s exactly what our Sports Development classes are about.

At Studio 51, these classes are more than just fitness.
They’re about helping kids and teens build confidence in their bodies, learn good movement patterns, and feel strong in a supportive environment.

Whether your child plays sport and wants to improve performance, or simply enjoys being active, these classes are designed to meet them where they’re at.

Term 2 classes:

Monday
• 1pm – Homeschooling Sports Development Class
• 4pm – Girls Strength & Sports Development

Wednesday
• 4pm – Boys Strength & Sports Development

NEW CLASS – GIRLS STRENGTH & SPORTS DEVELOPMENT 💪✨

Starting TODAY Monday 2nd February
🕓 4:00 – 4:45pm
📍 Studio 51 = 51 Commerce Street

This class is designed specifically for girls and teens who want to feel stronger, more confident, and capable in their bodies.

Perfect for:
• Dancers
• Gymnasts
• Sports girls
• Teens wanting injury prevention
• Girls who’ve never lifted but are curious
• Girls who don’t love traditional sport but want something empowering

We’ll focus on:
✔️ Learning how to lift properly and safely
✔️ Building strength without fear
✔️ Injury prevention and body awareness
✔️ Confidence, coordination, and resilience
✔️ Strong foundations that support sport, dance, or everyday life

This is not bootcamp, and not intimidating. It’s about learning, moving well, and feeling strong, in a supportive, positive environment.

Studio 51 exists for people who want to feel:

- and confident in their bodies again

We work with people who:
– have pain or injuries
– feel intimidated by gyms
– want to move well, not just burn calories
– want coaching, not just workouts

We believe movement is medicine.
We believe injury-safe doesn’t mean boring.

As we head into a new year at Studio 51, I just want to pause and say thank you.

The end of last year was a full one, in all the good ways, and I’ll be honest, I needed to properly step away and recharge over the holidays. I went a little quiet, but it was exactly what I needed.

To every single person who trained, showed up, tried something new, trusted me with their body, their rehab, their strength journey, thank you!! You don’t just support a studio, you create a community, and I absolutely love that!!

I’m feeling refreshed, excited, and really grateful to be heading into this next chapter with you all. Here’s to continuing to move well, build strength, and support each other in 2026.

We did it! Our Studio 51 team took out the Sport, Tourism & Leisure category at the Whangārei Colour Run organised by Sport Northland.

It was an awesome evening full of colour, laughs, and community spirit.... and clearly, my son couldn’t wait to sprint up and claim the trophy on our behalf 🤣🙌

Huge shoutout to our top three runners who made this win possible (photos coming next) and to everyone who came along repping Studio 51. Always means the world to me!

I received a message today that honestly made my whole week!

A new client told me her pain has eased more in one session with me than in eight sessions elsewhere.

We spent her dedicated PT session with me in full movement detective mode, watching how her body moves, muscle testing, figuring out why she’s in pain, and giving her homework to start rebuilding strength and mobility where needed.

Moments like this remind me why I love this job so much.

Helping people move better, feel better, and feel capable, that’s the heart of Studio 51. 🤍✨️

Celebrating this incredible lady today…

She lifted a whopping 110kg!!!

But this moment didn’t happen overnight. It’s been months of work!!

She came in with long term lower back issues. She’s hypermobile, meaning her joints move easily, but stability can be elusive.

So we didn’t start with a barbell. We started at the very beginning:

Building foundational strength

Rewiring muscle patterns

Teaching her body how to hinge + fire at the right time

Loads of single-leg work

Slow progressive overload + serious intention.

For months, we didn’t deadlift at all. We rebuilt from the ground up with purpose. The last time we lifted from the floor, we stopped at 70kg. Today...110kg!!

The best part was how she described her body has changed:

“It feels like all the jigsaw puzzle pieces have been put together… not 50 scattered pieces all over the place.”

This is what safe strength training should be like; it's a journey, it takes time, it's hard work, you have to trust the process, and you need a bit of patience.

And this is why I love what I do!!
