Heads up - for those of you being active out there, walking or running the bridges, please note that maintenance is set to begin next week which could affect access. One footpath will remain open at all times while work is underwayπΆββοΈββ‘οΈ
Weβll be carrying out planned general maintenance on Whanganui City Bridge, scheduled to run from early next week through to early July. This work is part of our ongoing commitment to keep this important infrastructure asset in top shape.
Our Whanganui Alliance team will be tackling several tasks, including concrete repairs, fixing corroded fastenings (including on the lamp posts), and taking care of general maintenance.
The City Bridge is a key route, so weβre taking steps to minimise disruptions and keep traffic moving. The crew will work during off-peak hours, with maintenance activities set for 9:00am to 3:00pm, Monday to Saturday.
Traffic management will be in place from 8.30am to 3.30pm. Three of the four lanes will remain open at all times.
A temporary 30 km/h speed limit will be in place around the work zone. Footpath access will remain available with one side closed at a time. Clear signage will show the open route, so please take extra care when crossing at either end of the bridge.
You may notice scaffolding under the bridge and, at times, a small crane on site. Delays are expected to be minimal (around five minutes), but itβs a good idea to allow a little extra time for your journey.
Please follow all temporary signage and directions from our traffic management team β theyβre there to help keep everyone safe and traffic moving smoothly.
Thanks for your patience while we carry out this important work.
