Update from coach Olivia who is settling in at Ollerup in Denmark, we are so proud of you Olivia.
Hi everyone!
It’s crazy to think that I’ve almost been away from home for two months already! Before arriving at Ollerup, I got to spend some time travelling around Singapore, Italy, Switzerland and Denmark. A few highlights from my travels were visiting Rome and seeing its iconic monuments, as well as taking in the amazing sights and scenery of Switzerland. After all the travelling, I was excited to finally arrive in Denmark, where I was greeted by Matilde our Ollerup exchange coach last year. It was really nice to catch up with her and meet her family, who made me feel so welcome.
The first week at Ollerup was intro week, we played a lot and I mean a lot of ice breaker games, we had a few cozy nights singing and listening to stories about the school, and we also spent a lot of time with our family groups and getting to know each other. There is always something going on around here, which can definitely get tiring, but there is never a dull moment. There is always someone to laugh with, something to do, or a new memory to make. We also finished intro week off with a camping trip where we had to make a hut as a family group with a tarp, rope and branches. We got lucky with the weather and it was beautiful and sunny the whole time.
My focus subject is tumbling which we have 3 days a week. I've been working hard in overcoming my mental blocks on backwards tumbling and improving my forwards tumbling. It's nice to have support from the teachers and my friends while working on new skills. Alongside my focus subject, I also have yoga and mindfulness, rhythm and dance and beach volleyball. It has been nice to try different things and learn new skills. I've also just started a teaching subject that will be very useful for my coaching in the future.
This past month has been the busiest, craziest and most fun month, and I’m so incredibly grateful for this opportunity and everything I’ve experienced so far. Next week we are off on our Euro study trip where we get to explore Copenhagen, Berlin and Prague. I can't wait to see what the rest of my time in Ollerup has in store, I'll be sure to keep you updated!
