You might see us out performing, playing beside the river or enjoying a beach drum The regular 'Community Drumming Whanganui' meets weekly Thursday evenings from 6.30pm to 8.30pm (or later). The evening has two modes. The first part of the night we learn something structured together, most often a rhythm which has origins in Africa. After a cuppa break, we go over things we may have learnt in previous sessions or rhythms that are a bit more challenging. Whilst being most welcome at both parts of the evening the first session is more suited to beginners. Occasionally we will just have a jam together, these jams are suited to those who don’t want to follow set patterns or rhythms and is a great opportunity to play other instruments and hand drums. We ask for a $5 donation which goes towards running costs, drums, and bringing teachers for workshops and other fun stuff. Children are welcome with their adults. We have some drums available to use for a gold coin. PM or ph/text for more info.
