Support for our sport is growing
We’re excited to share that MentalHunts has been officially added as a member of the Fi****ms Community Advisory Forum (FCAF) which has been in place since 2014.
This forum exists to provide advice and perspective on issues affecting New Zealand’s fi****ms community. Having a seat at that table means that our fi****ms community's mental health now has a voice within that conversation.
Good systems and good relationships are built when communities are part of the conversation, not just the subject of it.
MentalHunts works directly within the fi****ms community supporting and educating people around mental health, wellbeing, and early intervention. Through our work we see first-hand how people navigate difficult periods in their lives.
What is sometimes missed in policy conversations is that for many people in our community, time in the bush is more than recreation, it’s therapy. It's a place where people find space, clarity, connection, and recovery.
By being part of FCAF, MentalHunts can help ensure that discussions around fi****ms policy also consider the human side of mental health, the realities of licensed fi****ms ownership, and the importance of encouraging people to seek support early without fear of punishment or stigma.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute and to help bring a perspective that focuses on mental health support, prevention, trust, and safer outcomes for everyone.
