Whangamata Bowling Club A SUPERB LAWN BOWLS CLUB SITUATED IN A MAGNIFICENT BEACH-SIDE SETTING. VISITORS WELCOME. GREEN AND VENUE HIREAGE IS ALSO AVAILABLE. ALL ENQUIRIES WARMLY INVITED.

THE CLUB HAS A NEW ALL WEATHER CARPET GREEN WHICH ALLOWS MEMBERS ALL YEAR ROUND PLAY. Whangamata Bowling Club is intrinsically part of our town. Established in 1952, it has a current membership of around 80, comprising both men and women. Whilst we enjoy serious competition with some not insignificant success, we also encourage the attendance of those who are keen to participate in a less formal

respect. Thursday and Saturday afternoons are mostly set aside for a social ‘Roll Up’ when any bowler, or ‘would be’ bowler is most warmly welcomed to join in a game on our new carpet green or our very well maintained grass green. The Clubroom is spacious, modern and welcoming. Having recently been refurbished, and having a seating capacity of 100, it is an ideal site for functions such as Conferences, Weddings and other family occasions. With very reasonable hireage rates, this is a venue option well worth consideration for your anticipated event. Green hire is an added option. We can provide a selection of bowls to suit, and further, some bowling advice and support will be forthcoming on request. Not only is this a great ‘Team Building’ option for businesses or other organizations, this is a truly fun way to spend a few hours in friendly competition with your own friends or family. The day began well, but just two minutes before lunchtime, heavy rain poured down for twenty minutes. As a result, play on the grass was halted, and both sections had to play their third game on the carpet. This meant that only three games were completed.

The Whangamata Bowling Club '100% Home' sponsored Winter Bowls event drew an impressive turnout this year, with a record 30 Triples teams taking part. Throughout the day, a refreshing southern breeze swept across the grounds, serving as a gentle reminder that winter is just around the corner. With the cooler weather approaching, it's clear the warmth of the clubroom's fire will soon become a welcome comfort for everyone involved.

What an absolutely awesome couple of days of bowls was had at Whanga this weekend. Teams from Ngongataha,Tokoroa,Hikurangi,Counties,Howick,Waihi Beach,Hunua, Waihi ,Pauanui and a great contingent of local Whangamata bowlers all trying to win the inaugural Carters Building Supplies 2 day event.
The winners and placegetters were sorted and a big congratulations to all bowlers who participated in what was a fantastic event.
1st place: Sian,Loz and Bev (Waihi Beach)
2nd place:Carlson,Philipa and Colin.
3rd place: Gary,Stephen and Alan
4th place: Kel,Shan and Frankie.
5th place: Mike, Lil and PK.
6th place: Brian, Steve and Ivor.

What an absolute cracker of a day for bowls in Whangamata.
2 full greens of bowlers enjoying perfect conditions and fellow bowlers company. Close games were the order of the day and these are the teams that came away with the spoils.

Great conditions for bowling yesterday with intermittent sunshine and a gentle breeze giving us some excellent and very close games with no excuses for the beaten lot including myself.
Showing the way with four wins was the Hughes foundation skipped by Stephen Hughes.
Second was the Graeme Thwaites team.
3rd was the Brian Stent skipped team.
4th was the team from Mercury Bay skipped by David Field.
5th was the Sandra Morris team from Tairua.
The afternoon prize went to the Brian Grafas team.
Be nice if you skips could fill out your team cards next week please so that we can give a mention to all prize winners.

Hi All , today we have lost a very valuable Member of our club, GERARD SLATTERY who passed away this morning.
Gerards funeral service will be held next WEDNESDAY 6TH MAY at the SILVER FERN EVENT CENTRE @ 11.00am.
The location is adjacent BOYD PARK Stanley Avenue TeAroha.
