Whangamata Bowling Club A SUPERB LAWN BOWLS CLUB SITUATED IN A MAGNIFICENT BEACH-SIDE SETTING. VISITORS WELCOME. GREEN AND VENUE HIREAGE IS ALSO AVAILABLE. ALL ENQUIRIES WARMLY INVITED.

THE CLUB HAS A NEW ALL WEATHER CARPET GREEN WHICH ALLOWS MEMBERS ALL YEAR ROUND PLAY. Whangamata Bowling Club is intrinsically part of our town. Established in 1952, it has a current membership of around 80, comprising both men and women. Whilst we enjoy serious competition with some not insignificant success, we also encourage the attendance of those who are keen to participate in a less formal respect. Thursday and Saturday afternoons are mostly set aside for a social ‘Roll Up’ when any bowler, or ‘would be’ bowler is most warmly welcomed to join in a game on our new carpet green or our very well maintained grass green. The Clubroom is spacious, modern and welcoming. Having recently been refurbished, and having a seating capacity of 100, it is an ideal site for functions such as Conferences, Weddings and other family occasions. With very reasonable hireage rates, this is a venue option well worth consideration for your anticipated event. Green hire is an added option. We can provide a selection of bowls to suit, and further, some bowling advice and support will be forthcoming on request. Not only is this a great ‘Team Building’ option for businesses or other organizations, this is a truly fun way to spend a few hours in friendly competition with your own friends or family. After rain postponed open day the skies cleared for us to play on
Sunday 6th Sept with an excellent turnout from club members.
Peter Burgess and Margaret Reid did the horary job of bowling the first jack and the first bowl of the 26/27 season.
Competition was intense and was heart warming to see the high number of new bowlers taking part.
At the end of the day and taking out the Jim Morris Cup was the strong team of Di Mandeno, Grant Southcombe and Steve Boyce , congratulations and well done.

A wild and windy day to start the summer bowls season today with many players trying to find their ever changing line to get to the jack and sneak a win or two before having to change greens.
4 teams ended the day with 4 wins but only 1 team stood out to take the main prize. Congratulations to:
1st place: Ritchie,Val and Staf.
2nd place: Mark,Sian and Loz.
3rd place: Brian,Steve and Gary
4th place: Gary,Chris and Bob
5th place: Gavin, Jayne and Gale
6th place: Anne,Steve and Mikie
7th place: Ivan,Tupp and Rob. Many thanks to the ladies in the kitchen for the tasty afternoon tea.

A day of 2 halves today as sunshine dominated the first half of the day and cloudy and windy conditions dominated the second half of the day. Those that handled the conditions certainly earned their wins and got the chocolates. Don O’Sullivan’s team came with a wet sail to get 1st prize with some brilliant bowling.
The winning teams are as follows
1st place: Don,Dave and Trotty.
2nd place: Gary,Steve and Hayden
3rd place: Dave , Keith and Craig
4th place: Gavin,Jane and Cherie
5th place: Stephen, Helen and Ivan .
6th place: Graeme,Jim and Peter.

With 1 week to go until winter bowls finishes, teams are raising the stakes to finish in the money and salvage something before moving on to the summer bowls program. We had 3 teams finish with 3 wins but the team with the biggest differential and winners were:
Grant,Gail and John
2nd: Mark ,Gary and Natalie
3rd: Sandra,Kevin and Richard
4th: Bryan,Gary and KB
5th: Stephen, Helen and Ivan
6th: Dave ,John and Wayne
