Bike Whakatane

Bike Whakatane Bike Whakatane Trust has been established to support and promote all things biking in the Whakatane District. We'll keep you up to date as things happen!

Our members have been behind the development of Whakatane Bike Park, Bikes In Schools projects and events that promote safe cycling. Come to this page to stay in touch with the development of the Rotary Bike Park at Warren Park, Eivers Rd, Whakatane. We had a good meeting with some of the potential users on Sunday 3rd July. They gave us some great ideas to put into the plans. Have your say and let us know what you want on this page.

Happy WORLD BICYCLE DAY ! Go ride a bike, and if you don't have one, buy one! Ding, Ding!

This past weekend, Richard Hamer from our trust attended CANDo in Auckland, to represent the trust, gain a better understanding of the awesome work of Bike Auckland and other cycling advocacy groups around Aotearoa and to share ideas and opprtunities for the future.

CANDo is an annual event run by Cycling Action Network for Advocates, organisers, planners, and passionate riders.

Richard took the opportunity to share the work of our trust, formerly (Cycle Action Whakatane) alongside the Whakatane District Council and other partners that has led to both improved and increased cycling infrastructure, facilities, programmes and annual events over a 15+ year period.

On the ground in the Whakatane District this has resulted in 12 Bikes In Schools projects, the Council's - Active Whakatane District Wide Transport and Recreation Strategy 2020, Warren Cole Shared Pathway, improved cycling access through Burma Road, and support for the Onepu Mtb Park etc.
