❤️🖤 Team of the week - Pōneke Storm ❤️🖤

Like its name, the Year 5/6 Pōneke Storm was formed out of a storm, bringing together an awesome mix of skilled players and fresh new talent.

Our legendary lineup includes Aidan, Deyton, Iya, Kiwa, Loyalty, Marlon, Marti, Milo, Penina, Riley, Sia, Sophie, Tulangi, and our latest addition all the way from Christchurch, Gaudi! ⚡️

Coached by Nehe Milner-Skudder and Andrew Castle, this team has come a massive way this season. It has been incredible to watch our players develop their core skills, grow in confidence, and step up to show real leadership both on and off the park.

Supported on the sidelines by Lauren and Fairul, we are so grateful for all the aroha, time, and support poured into this team by our volunteers, whānau, and the Club.

Season Wrap-Up: From Poneke Pups to Rippa Superstars! We are the Year 0/1 Poneke Panthers!

​What a phenomenal season it has been for our amazing team! Taking the leap from Poneke Pups into their very first year of official Rippa Rugby was a huge step, but this crew handled it like absolute champions. The growth, confidence, and skill on display from game one to the final whistle has been nothing short of inspiring.

​Every single player has stepped up, embraced the game, and delivered amazing moments on the field this year. Whether it was pulling off game-saving tags, running straight into space, or backing up teammates for fantastic try-line finishes, the progress has been unbelievable to watch.

​A massive thank you goes out to our incredible coaches, Lance and Georgia Williams. Your endless energy, patience, and positive guidance have shaped this team into a tight-knit, footy-loving squad. You’ve brought out the absolute best in every child, building both their skills and their love for the game.

​We also have to give a huge shout-out to our fantastic parent sideline support! Week in and week out, rain or shine, your positive energy, cheering, and encouragement made every match day special for the kids.

​Congratulations to all the players on an outstanding inaugural year of Rippa Rugby. You have set the bar high, made Poneke proud, and we can't wait to see what you achieve next season.

Help keep Pōneke Junior Rugby thriving for 2027! 🔴⚫

Our club only works because of our amazing community. Watching our kids grow, build confidence, and fall in love with the game is unmatched—but we need a little help behind the scenes to keep it all going.

We’re looking for key volunteers for the upcoming season:

🏉 Junior Convenor: Lead team setups and registrations (busiest in March/April). Full handover and WRFU support provided!
📋 Committee Members: No rugby expertise needed! We’d love help with finance, social media, event planning, or growing participation.

Giving back a little time makes a massive difference for our players.
