Wellington Ocean Sports is all set for the next season of sailing. A big thank you to The Lion Foundation for supporting us by funding the replacement of the rigging and safety lines of our training boat. Their generosity helps us provide learning opportunities for the tamariki of Wellington. Tamariki have access to programmes centred on sailing and boat safety, key skills needed within our island nation. WOS also offers sailing courses for adult learners. These courses help feed our local sailing community with new and enthusiastic members. Our growth helps secure the succession of seafaring knowledge and skills for generations to come.

Join us in our upcoming Learn to Sail courses and enjoy all that our waters have to offer.

Available dates:

Saturdays 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th July. 9am-4pm each day.

Saturdays 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd August. 9am-4pm each day

Sundays 23rd, 30th August, 6th, 13th September. 9am-4pm each day.

Tue/Thur 29th September, 1st, 6th, 8th, 13th, 15th, 20th, 22nd, 27th October. 5:30pm-8:30pm each day.

Saturdays 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th October. 9am-4pm each day.

Sat/Sun 31st October, 1st, 7th, 8th November. 9am-4pm each day.

Thank you to for their generous support in funding the replacement of our Te Ruru trailer. This funding helps us support sailors on the water! The trailer is an essential piece of equipment for bringing the boat in and out of the water. Te Ruru is used as a support boat during our races and keeps a watchful eye on all sailors.

Te Ruru also supports Explore Your Coast volunteers to document marine life in Wellington Harbour, collecting data to better understand and reverse the decline of local kelp forests. With the help of Te Ruru and club skippers, divers have undertaken video surveys around Matiu/Somes Island and along the SH2 coastline. This work enables the club to directly support the conservation and environmental health of the harbour that lies at the heart of our sport. The observations will raise awareness and understanding of Wellington's coastal ecosystems and connect more Wellingtonians with their local marine environment.

With the help of Pub Charity, we have secured the ability to continue to protect and support our local marine community and environment.
