Earlier this week we marked with a ladies only skate 💜 We are very lucky to live in a country where women are afforded equal rights to men, as there are still many places around the world where this is not the case. Let's continue to keep pushing the boundaries and advocating for equality ✊

Today is and we see many messages out there marking it as a celebratory day - and while we have come a long way, there is so much more to continue to keep protesting and fighting for. So, we are not here to wish you a “happy women’s day”. Because it is not a “happy day” while women everywhere are still getting murdered, abused, or locked out of schools, universities, and leadership positions. It is not a “happy day” if it still excludes Trans, Black, Asian, disabled, fat and Q***r women (to only name a few). It is not a “happy day” when it’s been twisted from a political movement, into a romantic, capitalist and commercial day.
Instead, we encourage all of us to re-think this date and to continue pushing for change. We’re inspired by movements like those of our sisters in Iran, who keep fighting for freedom despite the harsh reality of their oppressive patriarchal society. We’re inspired by our sisters in Mexico, who keep fighting to end a cycle of violence that keeps escalating. We’re inspired by our sisters in Turkey, Syria, Palestine and Ukraine, who, despite the heavy weight of trauma, keep fighting to survive and thrive. We’re inspired by our Trans sisters everywhere, whose rights and existence are constantly under threat - and still, they persist and resist. We’re inspired by all of us who keep pushing for change and empowering each other. Together.
