The North City Cricket Club is a District cricket club and the only senior club affiliated to Cricket Wellington covering the Porirua City and Tawa Borough cricket communities. In 1995 the Tawa Cricket Club (founded 1947) and Mana Cricket Club (founded 1975) got together and jointly formed North City as a District cricket team to compete in the newly amalgamated Wellington and Hutt Valley Senior Men's club competition. Both clubs provided players to this team. A second North City team was added around 2000. In 2005 the Mana Cricket Club senior Men's club folded and the Tawa Cricket Club formally took over responsibility for the 2 North City teams and changed its name to North City Cricket Club Inc. on 20 Sept 2006 registering the change of name with the Companies Office. This has continued to the current day with the North City Cricket Club, at adult Men's and Women's level continuing to operate as a District cricket club in the Porirua City and Tawa communities. Catering for Players at all levels

The Tawa and Mana Cricket Clubs both had junior sections at the time a District team was formed. In the case of Tawa, the junior section has always been fully integrated with the senior club, but for Mana the junior section largely operated independently from the senior club and for many years was run by Brian Keats then with the assistance of Noel Hellyer. The Whitby junior section started in the late 1990's and jointly fielded teams with Mana initially. At junior level the Tawa and junior areas have enjoyed a close working relationship over many years jointly running a Saturday morning junior competition which has become more integrated with Wellington in the past couple of seasons. The close cooperation has also involved fielding teams at Underage Zone level in Cricket Wellington underage competitions and sending teams to Hawkes Bay cricket camps. Aotea and Tawa are the two Colleges in the North City cricket community that field teams in the College Sport Wellington competition for both boys and girls. The boy’s First XI’s for both College’s compete in the Premier 2 grade while the Tawa girl’s First XI competes in the Premier 1 grade and the Aotea First XI in the 8 aside competition. All up there are 41 registered teams in the North City cricket community.

We're buzzing to introduce Swirl Creations are sponsoring Jay Plant for the 26/27 season!

Jay is an important member of the squad and shows us for the team without fail. We can't wait to see what the new season has in store for them!

Made in Tawa 🀝 Made in Pukerua Bay

Introducing the collaboration that makes total sense. We're delighted to say that Six Foot Rum have sponsored our six foot plenty Toby Tomkies!

Toby's sure to be a big presence at Linden Park this season, but can he wrestle the unofficial Rum & Coke captaincy away from our resident pirate Niko Brooky?

Off the field, we're delighted to continue to support hyperlocal businesses from well within the North City area. So come down to Linden Park and see the highest standard of cricket the northern suburbs has to offer, while sampling the best food and drink north of the Gorge!

The B**r Engine has come to the party in a big way, sponsoring not one but two of North City's everlasting icons!

Both of these men have been totemic figures during North City's history - while one of them has basically lived through all of it, making a tremendous number of friends and basically no enemies along the way.

Munners and Si are true heroes of the club. Both have served on the committee, both have contributed enormously on the field and both continue to ensure the financial sustainability of our bar. We'd be lost without them.

It's only fitting that The B**r Engine should pick them up as player sponsors.

We're a couple weeks into pre-season training now so it's high time we unleash our Premier Men training squad for 26/27!

Here's your North City legends who are fizzing for October to come around and everything that comes with being at the club: babysitting drifters, beers in the tubs, wondering how long it is before Joel becomes Chair for life and trying to hit it over the clubhouse.

Who else is looking forward to the season starting?

FROM ONE GLORIOUS LEADER TO ANOTHER!

Karen has done (and is doing) it all at North City - from President to scoring for both Premier sides - and now to player sponsor, she has proven herself time and time again to be an integral part of the club.

So it's only fitting that she sponsors Premier captain Ava Conroy who quickly proved herself to be a person of many talents. Batting, bowling, winning titles, inspirational leader - is there anything she can't do?

I can't wait to see how the power of leadership squared takes North City to new and greater heights this season, including Karen picking up her $20 bar tab while we're still in October.

Do you want to join Karen in sponsoring a senior player? DM us for more!

Misha Patel travelled to NZ in 2022 from the UK and in 2023 started playing for North City.

Misha has been an significant player for our Women's teams over the last few years. She is a very talented player but most of all an amazing teammate. Everyone that met her would say she has best attitude on and off the field.

Unfortunately Misha has returned back home to the UK and the whole North City family wish you all the best with everything you do and you will always be welcomed back to North City with open arms!
