With the European leagues having had resumed in earnest here is what you have missed out from the opening week.

As the long holidays drew closer admin bought himself some six packs of Zambezi Lager as he prepared himself to but not limited to the heroes and defence forces holidays but the return of league football after what now seems like a short break thanks to the Olympics and the Euros

AFC Bournemouth kicked of the season with a cracker against newly relegated West Bromwich Albion in a 2-2 thriller in a game which had mixed fortunes for young Zimbabwe Warriors left Jordan Zemura. Culpable for Westbrom's opening goal Jordan would redeem himself with an assist on the other end of the pitch. His defensive quality was tested and considering the nature of the opposition the young defender was always going to find the going tough but going forward he excelled and was rewarded for his tireless runs down the left channel. Another Zimbabwean who was in action was Macauley Bonne whose late late equalizer for Ipswich Town Football Club against Morecambe FC in injury time earned his team a valuable point in their quest to regain promotion to the Sky Bet Championship. Ipswich would go on to be knocked out of the EFL Cup on Tuesday making it a bitter sweet couple of days for the Warriors striker. Newly appointed Wigan Athletic captain Tendayi Darikwa did not have the start he would have wanted as his side fell 2-1 to Sunderland AFC in their opening Sky Bet League One match of the season. They however bounced back in the with an 8-7 penalty against Hull City for Darikwa's first win as captain. Reading Football Club which is home to another Warriors prospect Andy Rinomhota kicked off the season with a defeat to Stoke City Football Club in the Sky Bet Championship in a match the midfielder got a decent rating of 6 from the local publication.

In France Marshall Munetsi's Stade de Reims and Tino Kadewere's Olympique Lyonnais - OL opened their Ligue 1 Uber Eats campaign with draws in matches were Marshall played the full 90 while Tino was an unused substituted.

Marvelous Nakamba is set to start for Aston Villa FC in the opening weekend of the Premier League as Douglas Luiz is out of contention due to his long season with Brazil that started Copa Amรฉrica and ended at the Tokyo Olympic Games 2021.

We look forward to updating you on all the exploits of our Zimbabwe Warriors in Europe as the season progresses. For his exploits against West Bromwich Albion Jordan Zemura is our Zimbabwe Warriors Player Of The Week.

With the AFCON around the corner Blogger Bhora takes an in depth look at some key members of the Zimbabwe National Team the Zimbabwe Warriors as we kick off our countdown to the must win match against Botswana Football Association.

Our first stop is in France where we have a look at Stade de Reims's Marshall Munetsi. With 1 goal to his name the defensive midfielder who also can slot in the CB position has 18 appearances from a potential 27 starting 13 and coming on a sub on 5 occasions. Munetsi averages 3.3 interceptions per game and has a passing accuracy of 84% averaging 64% on his long passes attempts. Of concern though is his ball recovery vs possession lost as the midfield talisman on averages recovers 5.9 balls per match against his average possession loss of 8.9 per match. He also offers little going forward with a chances created rating of 0.4 with no through passes attempted. With Marvelous Nakamba playing a similiar at Aston Villa FC the Warriors technical team will have to make a decision on whether to play him at Cb or pair him in a double D link vs minnows Botswana whom we drew with at the giant National Sports Stadium

Zimbabwe Warriors defender Jordan has been rewarded with a new contract by AFC Bournemouth that will see him extend his stay at the Vitality Stadium to 2022. Just days after making his senior debut in the Championship the 21 year old put pen to paper a move that will see him in the Premier League next season should the Cherries maintain their great start to life in the Sky Bet Championship.

Tino Kadewere was once again on target for Olympique Lyonnais - OL as his first half solitary goal was enough to see off French champions PSG - Paris Saint-Germain at the champion's home. David Moyo's Hamilton was on the receiving end of a 4-0 drubbing in a match where chances were hard to come by for the Warriors striker.

Marshall Munetsi picked a yellow card in the 51st minutes for Stade de Reims before being substituted in the 59th minute in his side's 2-1 away loss. Fellow warriors midfielder Marvelous Nakamba made a rare appearance albeit for a few seconds as he made stoppage time substitute appearance as his Aston Villa FC returned to winning ways with a late 1-0 win vs Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.

Warriors defender Adam Chicksen retained his place on the Notts County Football Club bench while Tendayi Darikwa's woes continues as he again failed to make Nottingham Forest 's match day squad. Fellow defender Teenage hadebe' had a great day in the heart of defence as his Yeni Malatyaspor Kulรผbรผ side saw off Fernabache 0-3. The day however belong to Jordan Zemura who finally made his AFC Bournemouth debut late in his side's win. After weeks of making the match day squad one can only imagine that this was a reward for work that is happening at the training ground and we can only hope that it is only a matter of time before the 21 year old gets his full debut.

Zimbabwe striker David Moyo continues to get a run of games for his side Scottish Premier League side Hamilton Academical FC as he played the entire match in his side's 1 all draw. Fellow forwards Tino Kadewere who has now established himself as a regular and captain Knowledge Musona also started for their sides in games where their teams both secured victory.

Teenage hadebe' made a last minute appearance in Yeni Malatyaspor Kulรผbรผ starting 11 after replacing his teammate injured during warm up as they drew 1-1 in a game he put in a good shift as he pushes to reclaim his starting place.
His fellow defenders Adam Chicksen and Jordan Zemura made welcome returns to the matchday squad for Notts County and Bournemouth respectively but did not take part in their teams 1-0 and 0-4 victories respectively. It however was still doom and gloom for Tendai Darikwa who once again missed out on the match day squad for Nottingham Forest who are precariously lying above the relegation zone. Darikwa has not been a favorite for the new boss and has struggled for game time ever since making his return from a long term injury.

Midfield general Marshall Munetsi was in action in the heart of midfield for his Reims while Marvelous Nakamba and Aston Villa had the weekend off following the postponement of Villa's match against Newcastle due to Corona virus outbreak at St James' Park. Reading Football Club who sit 3rd on the Championship table and boasts of the talent of Andy Rinomhota in midfield were also in action as the Zimbabwe hopeful who is also an established member of the squad continued with his good performances in the middle of the park for the club that has seen him make that position his.

Tino Kadewere was on the winning side as Olympique Lyonnais - OL thumped Marshall Munetsi's Stade de Reims 3-0 but it was a happy day for Zimbabweans all over the world as it was the first time in over 20years for two Zimbabweans to play against each other in Europe. The last duo to face each in Europe was Peter Ndlovu and Bruce Grobbler.
