SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAMME

We’re excited to be running our School Holiday Programme again these September school holidays!

Coordinated by our Director of Football, Guillermo Schiltenwolf, and supported by our club coaches, the programme is open to all players aged 5–13.

Come along to Martin Luckie Park to develop your football skills, try out different activities and, most importantly, have fun with your friends in a fun and active environment.

☔️ If the weather isn’t on our side, we’ll simply move the fun indoors!

250 GAMES IN CHARGE OF THE DIAMONDS

On Saturday 29 August, Guillermo Schiltenwolf officially reached an incredible milestone: 250 games in charge of the Wellington United Diamonds.

Guille joined Wellington United in 2011, and over the past 15 years he has become one of the most influential figures in the history of our club and the Diamonds.

What started with a less-than-auspicious first game, a 12–2 defeat, has gone on to become an extraordinary coaching journey. From that beginning, Guille has helped transform the Diamonds into one of the powerhouses of women’s domestic football in New Zealand.

As Head Coach of the Diamonds, Guille has led the team to five Central League titles and two Kelly Cups, helping establish the Diamonds as one of the most successful women’s teams in Wellington and a consistent force in the national game.

His contribution to Wellington United extends far beyond those 250 games, however. As the Club’s Director of Football, Guille has been at the heart of an era that has delivered eight Central League titles and our historic 2021 Kate Sheppard Cup victory, Wellington’s first ever triumph in the competition.

Under his influence, the Diamonds have also qualified for every season of the summer National League since it became club-based, and will now compete in the first iteration of the new winter-based National League.

But the trophies only tell part of the story.

Guille has helped build something much bigger than successful teams. He has been instrumental in creating a pathway for female players from juniors through to youth and senior football, while developing a culture where players are supported, challenged and encouraged to become the best versions of themselves both on and off the pitch.

That commitment was recognised in 2024 when Guille was inducted as a Life Member of Wellington United, cementing his place in the Club’s history.

Now, 250 games in charge of the Diamonds, his influence continues to be felt across generations of players, coaches and families who have been part of the journey.

GOLDEN BOOT | HANNAH PILLEY

30 goals. 15 games. The Golden Boot is Hannah Pilley’s.

What an incredible season from Hannah, averaging two goals a game on her way to finishing as the Central League’s leading goalscorer.

Last year, Hannah was the architect behind so many of the Diamonds’ goals, with her vision, creativity and ability to create chances for those around her.

This season, she has continued that incredible playmaking ability, helping the Diamonds to an astonishing 96 goals, while adding another dimension to her game by scoring 30 of them herself.

Since joining the league three years ago, Hannah has set the standard. This season, she has lifted the bar even higher.

Her numbers place her among the most prolific strikers in the country, but it is her all-round contribution that makes her such a special player.

Congratulations Hannah. A Golden Boot thoroughly deserved.

Congratulations Brooke Hutton!

Wellington United is incredibly proud to see our U17 Alliance player, Brooke Hutton, named in the Samoa U16 Women’s National Team.

Brooke will represent Samoa at the OFC U16 Women’s Championship, with Samoa taking on Tonga tonight in their opening Group B match.

150 GAMES FOR MOLLY

On Saturday, in the Diamonds’ 8–0 win over PNU, Molly reached an incredible milestone, making her 150th appearance for Wellington United.

Since joining the club in 2019, Molly has been a huge part of the Diamonds’ success, winning six Central League titles and the Kate Sheppard Cup along the way.

But her impact goes far beyond the trophies. Molly is absolutely crucial to the way the Diamonds play. Arguably one of the most gifted goalkeepers in the league with the ball at her feet, her ability to play out from the back is a massive part of how the team builds and controls games. And when called upon, she is equally as impressive between the sticks.

That has been particularly evident this season. Molly has produced some outstanding performances against the top sides, making crucial saves when the Diamonds needed them most and playing a huge role in helping the team secure yet another Central League title.

Since the match against the WeeNix in June, the Diamonds have won seven games on the trot, scoring 42 goals and conceding just one. Molly has been a big part of that incredible run.

150 games is a remarkable achievement, and the club is incredibly lucky to have a goalkeeper of your calibre call United home.

Congratulations, Molly. Here’s to the next 150.

Congratulations to our Capital Football clubs who have qualified for the 2026 National League!

On the men’s side, Miramar Rangers AFC and Wellington Olympic AFC have secured their places, while Wellington United AFC and Waterside Karori AFC will represent the region in the women’s competition.

Best of luck to all four clubs as the National League kicks off on 26 September!

FINAL BOUND!

What a team effort from our Emeralds and Opals joint side on Sunday, as they took on Seatoun in the semi final of the Art Decor Trophy (Gold).

From the first whistle, the two teams looked like they’d been playing together all season. Denis, Jacky and Jack worked closely together throughout the game, combining their ideas and experience to bring the best out of both teams and create a brilliant all round team performance.

A single goal was all that separated the sides, with Sophie scoring the winner to send United through to the final.

It was a great example of what happens when we come together as one United family.

Now, it’s all to play for.
