📣 We are hiring – Community, Club & Venue Operations Coordinator

With Will moving on, we are looking for a friendly, organised and practical person to join the team at Toitū Pōneke Community & Sports Centre.

This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the day-to-day running of our busy community venue. You will be in charge of our bookings, customer enquiries, event preparation, facility presentation and making sure our clubs, hirers and visitors receive a warm welcome.

We are looking for someone who:

Is reliable, organised and confident working independently
Has great people and communication skills
Is comfortable with administration and booking systems
Is practical and happy to help prepare rooms and events
Takes pride in keeping a venue welcoming and well presented
Can work flexible hours when required

Juniors (under9 - under15) come along to meet some club members, play some games and give it a go!! All new and returning kids welcome, it’ll be a great day to see if your kids are interested in playing ❤️💛🖤

⏰ 11am-1pm
📍 Kilbirnie park (If it’s raining it will be moved into the green room)

A sausage sizzle will also be provided 😋

💚 Farewell Will! 💚

Today is a bittersweet one for us at Toitū Pōneke as we say goodbye to our Functions and Venue Coordinator, Will Sargent.

Will was presented with an exciting opportunity that was simply too good to pass up, and while we are genuinely sad to see him go, we are also incredibly excited for him and what comes next.

During his time with us, Will has made a real impact on Toitū Pōneke and thehub.

Anyone who knows our place knows that no two days are ever the same. Will has been right in the middle of it all, looking after our clubs, hirers and visitors, helping with events and functions, solving problems, jumping in wherever he was needed and dealing with all the weird and wonderful things that come with running a busy community and sports centre.

But more importantly, Will has built relationships.

He has become a familiar face to so many of the people who walk through our doors, and his willingness to help, have a chat, find a solution or simply get stuck in has made a difference to our team and our wider Toitū Pōneke community.

Behind the scenes, he has also been someone we could rely on. He has taken on challenges, learned a huge amount, helped us through some incredibly busy periods and played an important part in the growth and changes we have made at thehub.

We are incredibly proud of what Will has achieved during his time here, and Toitū Pōneke is a better place for the contribution he has made.

Will, thank you for the hard work, the laughs, the support, the problem solving and everything in between. Your contribution has been genuinely valued, and you leave some pretty big shoes to fill. 💚

Sometimes an opportunity comes along that you simply have to grab, and we are so pleased to see Will taking that opportunity and moving on to his next adventure.

From all of us at Toitū Pōneke Community & Sports Centre, we wish you nothing but the very best.

Pōneke Football Club would like to thank Ross Bond as he steps aside from his role as Premier Head Coach after three years at the helm.

During his second stint as Head Coach (Premier Coach 99-04), Bondy played a key role in guiding the Premier Team to Hardham Cup success in 2025 and helped build a player-focussed foundation for the future by encouraging our exciting group of young players to establish themselves in our Premier squad.

More than the results, Bondy's passion for the club, commitment to our players, and dedication to creating opportunities for emerging talent have left a lasting mark on Pōneke.

Thank you for your dedication and ongoing commitment to Pōneke.

It's a good day to have a good day! Ruffnuts complete the perfect season, taking out the John Davies Cup as well as our 85s last Wellington team standing and into the final 8.
