The Sri Lankan Dance Academy is a voluntary organization dedicated to preserving ancient traditional dance forms, and nurturing the modern dancing arts, of Sri Lanka. Our driving ambitions are to share Sri Lankaโ€™s rich dance culture with the New Zealand public and to foster an interest in Sri Lankan dance for our children growing up in New Zealand. SLDA is established to offer Sri Lankan children growing up in New Zealand, the chance to learn and experience their culture & heritage and to to provide an opportunity for the wellingtonions to experience rich and colourful Sri Lankan culture. Purpose of SLDA FaceBook page is to
1) create awareness of SLDA among a wider audience
2) connect with students, parents, SLDA committee, past students, etc
3) Share success stories, photos and videos of SLDA events.

Yesterday, we were thrilled to have our Intermediate students take the stage at Hutt Multifest at Lower Hutt Town Hall! โค๏ธ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฐ

Our students proudly showcased their dancing and drumming skills with vibrant traditional Sri Lankan performances, making all of us very proud. It was wonderful to see our younger students sharing their culture with the wider community, and working on their confidence, dancing, drumming, and performance skills

A special thank you to our wonderful parents for their continued support, and to our Guru, Mohan Sudusinghe, for his guidance and dedication in nurturing our students and helping them grow as performers

Thank you to the Hutt Multicultural Council Inc for having us and for providing our students with the opportunity to take the stage and share a little piece of Sri Lankan culture with the community. A lovely event to be a part of, showcasing the rich diversity and culture we have in Te Awa Kairangi, Hutt Valley ๐ŸŒบ

On Saturday, we were honoured to be invited to perform at Multicultural NZโ€™s Annual General Meeting! ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐ŸŒ

Our senior students took the stage with a vibrant traditional Sri Lankan dancing and drumming performance, and we couldnโ€™t be prouder of them!
