The Sri Lankan Dance Academy of New Zealand was honoured to provide traditional Sri Lankan drumming for the lighting of the ceremonial oil lamp at the official opening of the High Commission of Sri Lanka in New Zealand.
This significant occasion marks a new chapter in the relationship between Sri Lanka and New Zealand, strengthening the longstanding ties of friendship, cooperation, and cultural connection between our two nations.
The opening was attended by Sri Lanka's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Hon. Vijitha Herath, New Zealand's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Winston Peters, Sri Lanka High Commissioner Prasanna Gamage, distinguished government officials, and members of the Sri Lankan community in New Zealand.
As custodians of Sri Lankan cultural traditions, we are proud to have contributed to this historic event through the sounds of traditional Sri Lankan drumming, celebrating our heritage while representing our vibrant community in Aotearoa.
We extend our congratulations to the Sri Lanka High Commissioner's Office and wish them every success as they begin this important new chapter.
