“The Kettlebell is not the Load!”
Our nervous system knows nothing of numbers! Whether those numbers describe weight, sets, repetitions or timeframes, our Nervous System has no idea!
On the other hand, the ‘Ego’ knows ‘everything’ about numbers, in the form of targets, expectations, weight lifted & other such constructs of the matrix!
So with the above in mind, what does Immutable Law #3 mean by ‘The Kettlebell is not the load?’
To describe this I will use an excerpt from ‘Move your DNA’ by Katy Bowman…..
I hope she doesn’t mind….
‘The physical expression that is your body is the sum total of loads experienced by your cells. Picture, for a moment, standing in a huge forest. A wind blows through this forest & you look up to see trees bending this way and that way. Some trees hardly move at all & some rustle quite a bit. The quantity & qualities of tree movement depend on the direction of the wind, it’s strength, and how long it lasted.
It is important to remember the the load “is not the wind.” The load is the “effects” created by the wind. “The load is how the trees physically experience the wind.”
Every tree experiences it uniquely……Also, the tree does not experience the wind similarly over the entire tree!
Therefore….
“The 16kg Kettlebell is not the load. The load is the ‘experience’ created by carrying it!”
It is the experience that counts, not the number on the side of the Kettlebell, the number of sets in your program, or the arbitrary number or repetitions you have to perform for that particular days workout
By nature, experience is very subjective to the individual……..everyday will be different & it will be affected by:
Diet, hydration levels, time of the day, sleep, recovery, life commitments, work, stress levels, complexity, environment……..etc.
It’s all about the experience! Pay attention to your body, don’t just follow the paint by numbers approach! Quality over quantity!
