Merry Christmas! 2025 completed here at SwimSense - that's 10 years since we started. Time flies! What fun we have every day, it's truly a pleasure teaching our tamariki and this last week of water safety was very important. Stay safe over summer while enjoying your play :) See you all in the new year!

This was the beautiful Emily - a special, unique, strong, and determined 9 yr old. You could have used every adjective under the sun to describe this star. She was one of those rare kids who carried sparkle in her eyes and warmth in her heart wherever she went.

On the day of her tragic accident, Emily did everything she had been taught in her swimming lessons. Unfortunately, when you’re dealing with the wild West Coast and a rogue wave, we can never be 100% safe. We continue to encourage the use of life jackets anywhere near waterways, whether whitebaiting, kayaking, or around rivers and, of course, constant supervision, no matter the age.
