We're on the home stretch for the tail end of the season and it's been a mixed one. Some busy bees but not so reliable weather has meant that we have a less than average yield overall this year, with some areas fairing better and some worse than others.

Still we get to be out here day in and day out, so we can't complain too much! It's part and parcel when it comes to working alongside nature, and we'll keep chasing that liquid gold next year!

Looking ahead, we will be back into Alexandra next spring with bees to forage for a thyme crop, and are currently looking for a couple more sites. We would love to hear from anyone who might be interested in hosting some of our hives so if that sounds like you - feel free to get in touch with us: [email protected]

The season is shifting and we are already thinking towards winter - or final honey harvest is in full swing and and tucking the bees in.

Summer is here and the bees are buzzing - as always we're loving all the beautiful blooms about.

After a bit of a battering by winds in spring things are picking up down here.

Next up for the bees in our area is dandelion - and it's really trying despite the wind and wintery weather down here!

It's been a challenging spring and, in some areas, we're still feeding the bees.

This is what we feed them with - 100% real honey.

Not a bad way to start the day.

I'm sure there's something witty we could say here about the birds and the bees - but honestly, we're too busy soaking it in.

A wee bit chilly for the bees this morning. The joys of Central Otago Spring.

In our area, willow offers the first real feed for the bees in spring, providing both pollen and nectar. It's a respite from the long winter and harbinger of the season to come. We are always grateful for it.
