Club Champs Serve Up a Stunning Day of Tennis
Sunday 4th May – Men’s & Women’s Club Championships
With blue skies, sunshine, and not a breath of wind, conditions couldn’t have been better for our 2025 Lower Northland Masters Club Champs held at Warkworth Rackets on Sunday 4th May.
The Women’s Doubles saw four pairs battle it out in a round-robin format. After a series of competitive and fun matches, Maayke Reidsma and Katie Searle emerged as champions, with Jodie Hanna and Siobhan Jordan taking a well-earned runner-up spot.
In the Men’s Doubles, five pairs competed in a knockout elimination draw. Defending champions Andrew Borland and Shane Smith-Franklin returned to defend their title successfully - pushed all the way in an epic final by David Leon and Jacques Olivier. The quality of play was outstanding, and the match was a real crowd-pleaser.
Across the board, the day showcased a fantastic level of tennis, great sportsmanship, and plenty of laughs. A huge thank you to all players and supporters — it was a thoroughly enjoyable day on and off the court!
