Construction work is now well underway on our new 19th hole. This will be planted soon, to be ready in the autumn. This will also utilising turf from the turf nursery constructed last year.
Playing from the previous 10th women’s tee, it heads towards the 11th green, and is around 110m. It will be used in instances where another hole is out of play or work is being undertaken.
The green will be the biggest of any currently on the course, at approximately 525sq metres (and probably the biggest bunker on the course too!!) It has been dug out, and starts with a herringbone drainage system, with layers of gravel, a courser sand and then a final top layer of 300mm of sand.
This green will differ from the rest of the course, where greens are soil based, but with coring over the last 5+ years very slowly replacing the top layer with sand over time.
The 19th hole has been designed by Phil Tataurangi, who we are thrilled to be working with on an overall course masterplan which is currently in development. Phil is also working on the replanting of the 17th/18th boundary.
Finally please be mindful this is a working site, with machinery, staff and contractors working.
