Bike Workshop Mechanic Position

The Bike Lounge team are searching for a new year round, full-time mechanic to support their ever-expanding bike workshop. As an integral part of our Wanaka workshop team, you will have a variety of key retail and bike repair responsibilities including:

● Ensuring high quality repairs are performed whilst keeping track of workflow
● Guaranteeing that all bikes are built and to the guidelines set and that all safety measures are met
● Servicing and repairing customer bikes in an efficient and timely manner
● Maintaining high standards throughout the store
● Serving customers in a helpful and friendly manner

This position requires a highly flexible individual who is prepared to work evenings and weekends.

Please apply if you are ready to undertake all levels of repairs including building of bikes, wheel building, gear tuning, bearing replacements, brake servicing as well as changing cables and replacement of chains.

The individual must also have the following attributes:
● Exceptionally high levels of customer service
● A motivated individual who has a self-start mentality
● Be able to work as part of a team
● Excellent communication skills

It can be a bit of a long haul from Hawea to some of the bike parks in the region, so this is great news for all bike lovers!

Drum roll please.... we are stoked to reveal the plans for the new Hāwea Bike Park on the corner of Domain Road and Noema Terrace on land the bike club is leasing from QLDC!

The park aligns with QLDC’s 10 Year vision of creating vibrant communities and we envisage the Hāwea Bike Park to be a hub for the children and youth of the Hāwea community - a place to meet and connect with friends and a place to be physically active and develop life long biking skills.

The main areas of the Bike Park will be:
- Pump Track: a great starting area, fun for all abilities from balance bikes to adults
- Kids Mini Jump Line: a learning area for jumps, will feature 3 progression options
- Medium jump line: Bigger jump progression for confident riders
- Flow Line - grade 3: A progression from the Pump Track, this will be a gravity track with
berms, pumps, and bumps.
- Skills area: small skill based features to encourage better handling skills.

Dirt Dynamics, will re-commence work in level 2 and we are looking to have the park open for riding in August 2020.
