Well what a weekend.
It started out a tad rough with dome medium dressage at the sprig, must of ate not enough!, but the trip with the hard hat visor down saved the dayπ.
Well Friday night we ventured over to eastern states. Alex Hill up on the wheel of 21n super saloon, he put in some solid laps and got quicker and quicker as the night went on. A tick in my box getting these guys in the hot seat to see what they think.
Aimee Burson (Ace) debuting the new big block Datsun. I couldn't be more proud of how she raced all weekend. From a nervous wreck Friday night to elbows up hunting for the front by Sunday. She peddled hard and drove extremely well. Didn't quite make the podium, but I reckon she's going to hold her own next season. Can't thank Chad Ace Performance for this little gem. It's certainly bolsted Aimmz confidence and she is peeling some top laps. Jack Burson drove bloody well all night. A podium finish for a kid that had done one night in this beast. Yes I got way nervous, but he grabbed this car by the nuts and gave it heaps. Saturday night he had another solid run and finished the not with a slight nose job but we got that buffed out for Sunday at home. I ran the superstock no wins but more laps and experience.
Sunday was the most special for me, I finally spun some laps with Jack. 1st race he smoked us all I came in 4th.
Next heat I won and was surprised to see Jack coming around track with me for my victory lap, that was one of my proudest moments ever. Not the winning but to race with my kid.
I certainly know how the other dad's feel now after experiencing this.
Onto the feature we started on the front row but went backwards, not that it was a bad thing, watching Jack do lap after lap on the outside of Peter B 58p was epic, 15 or so laps went like this and jacks tyres blew of allowing Ariana Shane McIntyre and I through for the podium spots behind Pete.
The superstock was humming until we got into a little pickle that buggered me cage, so that was that.
I cannot thank my family and friends enough. We have a massive program ahead of us next year if fuel and work allows. Racing with my kids has changed my prospective on things, one it's bloody special and two I want to bet jack more than ever. By god I have my work cut out.
A few people I must thank, Tony, Mick, Brookie, for keeping our cars going, Higgy, getting the superstock sorted and running. Morrie for trusting us 2 with our 24inch cresents. Alex and Alicia Hill for having our backs. Shane hardwood for organizing the deal of the century.
Our valued partners that support our racing year in and out. Jack Mclauchlan and the team F45 Richmond for making me get of my arse and enjoy my fitness again.
And last but not least my that always are there to support me.
I thought my journey was done in speedway but seeing everyone having the best time over the weekend and seeing the next generations battling it out made me think I would miss this way to much. Thanks again peeps it's been and up and down season but by God I can't wait for October top feed Jack a R/Rππ€
