Glenbrook Boating Club (1985) Inc
I am saddened to advise the Glenbrook Boating Club (1985) Inc. will no longer run. This decision has not been taken lightly and is based on the following
A lack of Committee and financial members means it is not longer viable to keep the club going. We were hoping with the new Glenbrook Beach subdivision development, members numbers would increase over the last few years, however this has not been the case.
The law changes around constitution upgrades, passed 6 March 2022 “ Clubs will need to comply with the Incorporated Societies Act 2022, which replaced legislation put in place in 1905 “ means a re-writing of the Constitution is required to remain active.
Following the Glenbrook Beach community meeting - where plans for the new ramp development at Glenbrook were revealed, also involves setting up a new club so this would also mean the club as we know it would become obsolete.
In line with the rules in the Clubs constitution, we will move forward on this and will be applying to the Incorporated Society to wind the club up. Trophies will be stored for possible display when the new facility is built.
We wish to thank everyone past and present for the years of hard work, making and maintaining the ramp, (prior to the Auckland council taking it over). For the great memories and friendships formed, and of course the great fishing stories told by everyone.
