The final game for the Waiuku Wolverines played yesterday! Match report from Coach Cliff 🗣️:
Not the result we wanted to end the season on, but a performance every Wolverine can be proud of.
Up against a strong Woodside Women side from Manurewa, we went down 4-2. A few weeks without a game disrupted our winning momentum, and with only 1 sub on the bench it was always going to be a tough shift. But this team played for the badge and for each other from the first whistle to the last.
First Half:
We came out bright and matched them early. Mellow got us on the scoresheet with a quality finish in the first half to keep us right in the contest.
Second Half:
Woodside put the pressure on, but we never dropped our heads. Parween kept us fighting with a well-deserved goal in the second half and we pushed right to the final minute.
90 minutes of grit, heart, and togetherness.
Players of the Day:
Chelsea - Immense at the back. Did a brilliant job keeping their dangerous striker from doing too much damage. Composed, tough, and read the game superbly.
Ashley - The engine room. 90 minutes of non-stop running, covering every blade of grass. Set the tone for work rate.
