Wairoa College Football training tomorrow at the College at 2pm! The boys team has a busy schedule coming up and we really need to start preparing.

Senior Boys lost 6 -2 to a more experienced Lytton College team. We weren't helped by the fact that Mr Westwood blew up the engine on one of the mini buses and we arrived late and unprepared. Bad luck guys. Two wonder strikes from Jose Hura and Harry reduced deficit.

Great week for Wairoa football!
Girls college team rounded off the season with another massive 6 - 2 win with Sharn (2) and Alexa (3) amongst the goals. The three Junior teams all won their games 6 -1, 6 -2 and 4 -1.
Yesterday, Wairoa Athletic defied expectation by beating league table toppers Eastgate by 2 - 1. In a fiercly fought contest, Athletic mad a mockery of the relative league positions of the two teams and for long periods it looked like they were the team at the top of the table. Man of the Match Tim Howard scored both Athletic goals. It could easily have been 4 however. Harry Rowley Westwood's sublime chip hit the crossbar and the same player had a late chance well saved by the Eastgate keeper.
Well done everyone who participated this week.

Senior boys gain another comfortable win against a young Lytton side. Score 9 -0 (I think) with Paoraian scoring 3 and Tom, Leroy and Ben each getting a brace.
Junior team (mixed) also beat GGHS by 5 goals to 3.
As yet we haven't heard the scores from Gisborne where we had the Senior girls and two junior teams playing.

Disappointing game today at Athletic Park as Bohemians defeated us by 4 goals to 1. The quality of Wairoa's passing was lacking the accuracy of the last few weeks and we conceded possession far too easily. Although Wairoa scored first, the home side could not build upon a solid start and were finally sunk with 3 second half goals. MOM today was Ben. He also won the skulling too easily!

Senior boys team make it 3 wins in a row by beating Gisborne Boys High by 7 goals to 4. That's the third high scoring game and the team have scored a whopping 23 goals in 3 games!
Today's scorers were Harry (3), Pukerau (2), Tom and Jose.
Difficult conditions on a heavily waterlogged pitch made it hard going but the finishing was superb with the goals all coming from midfielders.
The team are showing excellent signs of progress with Jack, Tiehema, John Paul, Paulie, Leroy and the Evans boys, Kevin and Karl, all playing an important role in defence. Liam didn't disappoint when he came on as sub by making some good clearances. Daniel, Paoraiain and Ben worked tirelessly up front whilst Pukerau and Marlon worked well on the flanks.

Great win for Athletic, beating Campion College by 4 - 2 on Saturday. Great team performance with special mentions for Jason and Harry, who had good games in defence and attack respectively, and couldn't be separated for Wairoa player of the day. Mike Hardy and Harry Rowley Westwood scored two each, with all the Wairoa goals coming in the first half.

First win of the season with a 4-3 win versus GBHS. Hat-trick for Matt and our other goal from Mike Hardy. Great support from our fans at the side.
