🏆 Men’s Matchplay Club Championships Qualifying — Starts This Weekend!

The battle for the 2026 Club Championship begins Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th June.

Three qualifying rounds — best 2 of 3 count toward your seed.

⛳ Qualifying Dates

Round 1: 6–7 June
Round 2: 13–14 June
Round 3: 20–21 June

Top 32 players per division advance to Matchplay — winners move to the Championship bracket, others to the Plate division (off the stick).

📅 Matchplay Schedule
Round of 32 — by 5 July
Round of 16 — by 19 July
Round of 8 — by 8 August
Semi‑finals — by 30 August
Finals: Saturday 12 September

⚠️ Matches not played or recorded by the due date will see the lowest seed progress by default.

Divisions: Senior (Plus–6) • Intermediate (7–12) • Junior A (13–18) • Junior B (19–24) • Junior C (25+)

Zack fired an absolute -6 (66) 💥 — huge effort, mate!

That round didn’t just turn heads… it launched him 29 spots up the leaderboard (from 52nd → 23rd overall in strokeplay 🚀).

His performance helped push the Florida Gators Men’s Golf team into Matchplay, climbing them out from below the cut line and right into contention.

The 9H Napier GC women hosted Maraenui last Wednesday to play the first round of the 2026 Ian Carr Stableford Challenge. For the third time in a row Napier came out on top and will hold the trophy for yet another six months. Well done, Napier!

The NGC team who played at the GOLFNZ National Team District Final at Maraenui on May 4th took out the title in a rather convincing way. Jo Free, Jane Fountaine, Margaret Evans & Diane Scott all played under, or to their handicaps and were well clear of the second place getters from the Karamu GC. Congratulations and fingers crossed that the team score compares well when submitted to GOLFNZ

Coronation Cup Champions 2026
📍 Porangahau Golf Club

What a weekend for our men at the Coronation Cup! The team headed into the weekend full of confidence, proud to represent our club, and ready to get the job done and that’s exactly what they did.

Our lads went through the entire tournament unbeaten to bring the cup home! A huge effort from everyone involved and something the whole club can be proud of.

Massive congratulations to our 2026 Coronation Cup Champions.

A huge thank you as well to all the spotters over the weekend. Without your help, especially in Round 2, there’s no way play would’ve finished on the same day. Your efforts made a massive difference and are hugely appreciated.

To the kitchen crew, thank you for the awesome meals all weekend. And whoever made the potato bake deserves a pay rise because that was elite.

Behind the bar, thank you for keeping the cold drinks flowing. There’s nothing better after a hard round than sitting down with a cold one and celebrating with the team.

And finally, thank you to Golf Hawke’s Bay and AJ for all the organising throughout the weekend. Everything ran smoothly and the event was top class.
