VINDICTIVE BUREAUCRACY STRIKES AGAIN
In order to meet the requirements of the Arms Legislation Act 2020, which called for Police approval of all Shooting Clubs and certification of all Shooting Ranges, Police have launched a 137 page discussion document that spells out the proposed Regulations to administer these two activities. Gun clubs and range operators as well as the general public have just 6 weeks in which to digest and provide feedback on these regulations.

As Chaz Forsyth, President of the Sporting Shooters Association of New Zealand says β€œ These new regulations are another example of vindictive bureaucracy, dictated by government ideology against lawful firearm owners, following the Christchurch massacre, when we all know that that tragedy was perpetrated by a lone fanatic, who obtained his fi****ms through police mismanagement of the firearm licence system."

"There has been no evidence of safety issues reported on civilian ranges in New Zealand. Now we have police, who are well known for their questionable shooting ability, through inadequate training, dictating to citizens on how to conduct their sports shooting.”

The concern of many in the firearm community is that these new regulations will result in many clubs and ranges closing, through volunteer management committees or land owners not wishing to be hassled with all the bureaucracy. Lost too will be the opportunities these clubs provide for teaching safe use and handling of fi****ms. The ultimate result will be that New Zealand becomes less safe as shooters have fewer opportunities to practice their sport and maintain their training.

All shooters need to express their views on this.

A bit of a conversation starter from Kerry Adams? With the increasing costs of ammo I've just started to try reloading shotgun shells (probably not the best time aye?). I want to load something to try at the sporting/field shoot with fibre wads (now this is compulsary at the request of the land owner). It's been a mission sourcing the componants but I managed to find a couple of suppliers for shot, wads and over powder cards. Buying good hulls seem to be the problem so I'm going to buy a slab of Wi******er AA's to shoot and then keep to reload. There's definetly a lot to think about, more so than reloading rifle cartridges I'd say. Just trying to find load data for fibre these days is an issue in it's self. I'll let you know how I get on. Are any of you guys/girls reloading? What are you using for hunting?

I initially thought it was someone pi***ng around on the beach with a shotgun. Not ideal. The wads were all in the same general area – which lead me to the (potentially incorrect) conclusion that someone was shooting at a target in the vicinity – so all the wads landed in the same spot. However,...
