Tonight the Waimate Rugby Club held our annual Prizegiving night where we got to celebrate our individuals as well as others who helped the club over the last season.

Also a shout out to Jack Stringer and Jonty Charles who have both been selected in the South Canterbury U16 rep squad for the season.

Premier Finals Footy by Garry Darke

The season is over for the Premiers and it wasn't in the manner they would like to go out losing 15-48 to the Mackenzie Rams.

Only down 10-12 at halftime the freezing supporters were happy with Waimate now playing downhill and after scoring first in the 47th minute to lead 15-12 things looked positive.

Alas, any small errors were quickly capitalized on by Mackenzie as they ran in 6 unanswered tries in the final quarter for a resounding win of the Scott Cup.

For Waimate it has been one of those seasons plagued by injury or unavailability. Twice when we could front with nearly a full squad we were able to beat Celtic and Harlies, but games like that were few and far between.

Onto next season and we can start refreshed. All the best to players selected in any SC teams.
