https://www.waimategolfclub.co.nz OUR CLUB
The Waimate Golf Club is situated on the western outskirts of Waimate, a town of 2800 which is 47km south of Timaru. The club was established in 1965 as a nine hole club and became an 18 hole club in 1974. Our club is in good heart with around 100 members & 40 members in the mens and

womens groups respectively. We also have an active golfing juniors club with 20 to 30 kids turning up regularly to learn how to play golf and to have a hit on the course with some of our experienced members. THE COURSE
The Waimate course is undulating and tree lined with wide fairways and is beautifully maintained by our fulltime greenkeeper and a dedicated group of member volunteers. The entire layout is magnificently planted with many ornamental trees and has picturesque surroundings and great views across the course and the surrounding country-side—don’t let the view fool you however, the rough can bite and it is easy to get up close and personal with those trees! The golf course is of incredibly high quality for a small town course and is the envy of many out of town players who come down for a competition day or just for a weekend round. For the technically minded the course statistics are as follows:
Men: White Tees, 5523 metres, Par 72, NZCR 68.5, Slope 115. The first nine is a par 35, while the slightly longer and more challenging back nine is a par 37. The longest hole on the course is the 455m Par 5 17th on the back nine and with the 117m Par 3 Seventh rated the easiest there is something for everyone on our course. A signature hole on the course is the hardest hole, the 410m Par 4 18th. Its wide and straight but deceptively challenging and a par has to be earned. EVENTS
We host our very own Waimate 3000 Golf Tournament annually in February with a capped entry of 120 players. The event is an 18 hole Medal round round with ‘closest to the pin’ and ‘longest drive’ competitions in all grades. When the golf is done and dusted, everyone meets in our well appointed clubrooms for refreshments and a rehash of their round before we start the prizegiving. The BBQ runs flat out all day and our fully stocked bar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages ensures everyone can have an enjoyable time . CONFERENCE & CORPORATE VENUE
Our comfortable Clubhouse can easily seat 100 with room to spare and has catering facilities and a full bar on premises. The light and airy, high ceilinged clubhouse with heatpump and fans is ideal to accommodate your club, corporate or business presentations. We have a modern projector and screen available for slide shows or Powerpoint presentations - its as easy as plugging in your laptop to the projector .

A few trailor loads of firewood split today. Big thanks to the team that turned up this morning, still a bit to do but thanks to the Cochranes for the trees they've donated to the golf club.

The Waimate Golf Club Inc would like to sincerely acknowledge the grant funding recently provided by the Lion Foundation (and its venue partner the Royal Hotel Waimate) which assisted the Club in purchasing four second-hand carts from The Hills Golf Club, Arrowtown.

The Club now owns six modern carts which are available for hire to Members and Visitors alike, who want to enjoy our quality country course, but may not necessarily be able to enjoy or complete the demanding walk around our rolling parkland course.

Treasurer Nathan Mills says “Without the financial support of Lion Foundation, the Golf Club may not have been able to take advantage of the great opportunity afforded to it when The Hills decided to sell off ten of their forty cart fleet. Now, with the carts available at the Club, it significantly expands our ability to provide services to Members and Visitors alike who want to enjoy our course.
“We really appreciate the support we received from the Lion Foundation, and in turn, their venue partner the Royal Hotal, Waimate”, he says.
