🏆🐑 On January 7, 2024, Gisborne’s Catherine Mullooly made history, smashing the World Women’s Eight-Hour Strong Wool Ewes Shearing Record by shearing 465 ewes at Nukuhakari Station. That’s an incredible 58 sheep per hour, breaking the previous record by 79 sheep and surpassing the nine-hour record in just eight hours! 💪🔥

Competing at the elite Open-class level, Catherine is one of the few female shearers worldwide to reach this standard, proving her dedication, skill, and endurance in a sport that draws competitors from over 30 countries.

A former No.1-ranked lower grades shearer, Catherine has competed in NZ and the UK, taking on some of the best in the world. Now balancing family, farming, and shearing, she’s still deeply passionate about the sport—and enjoys fishing, gardening, horse work, and beach trips in her downtime.
