Well what more could we have asked for than a rain-free Saturday for opening day of our 2026/27 calendar? We got 16 degrees, blue skies and sunshine - just beautiful.
Our 95 year old patron -Patsy Gommans delivered the first jack and bowl to declare the season open.
Some members wore the old white shirts and some the new blue as uniform is required for the summer season. Two games were played followed by a shared lunch - boy what a feast.

Our 2026/2027 season officially opens this Saturday 5th September for all members.
9.30am kick off (be there by 9.15).
Wear uniform.
Bring a plate for a shared lunch.
Let's have ourselves a jolly good time! 🙂

Our August tourny held last Thursday 27th and sponsored by Curry Delight, saw some cut throat bowls being played - (no pun intended 😉)

Our girls went, played, tried their best - but have not qualified in the c of c NZ Triples. They put up a good fight in this mornings game against Stoke but in the end Amy's class shon though. A great experience and a fun time was had.

Our girls have had a mixed morning - one up one down. The win was a very close one. The fan club of Barry, Colleen, Charlie, Rose, Jill G, Lorraine and Ross have not many fingernails left! Next games is tmrw.

Yesterday we resurrected the men v ladies challenge that was first played for in 1971 and last in 2015. It was a huge amount of fun. The men were so lucky the rain came while they were slightly ahead so play was stopped and forced everyone into the bar! The ladies out did the men in the uniform dept. We then progressed into prizegiving for the 2025/26 season and a BBQ to round off the day. Prizes were spread over many players - great to see. Finally a special mention to our Glenys Freeman for attaining her umpires qualification with top marks. Good on ya Glenn.
