The Waikanae Football Club held its annual end of season Snr Awards Night on Saturday night at Bowls Waikanae clubrooms.
What a huge night.
About 150 footy members and partners attended including a number of Bowling Club bowlers who also received awards, namely Aaron Hopkins(Hoppy) and Sean Scott.
Awards were presented for variety of football acheivements but the ones that impressed me the most was the growing list of 10 yr Service awards and this year for the first time a number of 20 year Service awards.
Congratulations Waikanae Football Club for the way you have intergrated and become part of the Waikanae Bowling Club.
You are an assett to our bowling community and the culture you have grown is a credit to everyone of you.

It was a beautiful Sunday morning for our final "Kids in Bowls" coaching session.
Last week with the wind and rain we were forced indoors, which introduced something new to these up and coming bowlers.
Today though was spectacular which showed in the way each bowler improved minute by minute.
Our "Kids in Bowls" coaching program has been running for 4 years now. That means over 500 yr7 & yr8 primary school students have given "Bowls" ago.
Many will be back in future years, with an understanding and a head start, unafraid of what the game of Bowls is all about.
Many thanks must also go to the Waikanae Community Board for helping us purchase these smaller bowls for younger hands.

Its amazing what a beautiful Friday afternoon can do to lift people spirits.
Out and about doing what needs to be done then off to the Waikanae Bowling Club for "Friday night Nibbles and Drinks"
There must have been 70-80 members there last night.
The place was a buzz and the extra raffles and the Joker sold out real quick.
Chris Bryant was chasing $1250+ in the Joker but unfortunately for him it lives another week.
I'm picking it will be over $1500 next week.

What a fabulous day 1 of our "Kids in Bowls" programme this sunny Sunday morning.
We had a half dozen primary and college students attend.
I was very impressed with all who attend and watched them grow from "No Idea" to "Look at me now".
Kids catch on so quick dont they.
There are still a couple of vacancies for any student, year 7 or 8 or college.
Sunday Morning 10am til noon. Wet or fine.

The Friday night Joker is alive and very well at the Waikanae Bowling Club.
Ot is really worth winning now that it's going to be over $1250 this coming Friday.
Gay had a go at trying to pick just where it was hiding but only manage to find the 7 of Diamonds.
Each week as another card gets turned over it gets easier and easier to find.

This weekend saw Bowls Waikanae hold their annual Winter Cup tournament with entries from around thr North lsland competing for this coveted trophy.
From Pirongia in the King Country, to Feilding, Foxton Beach, Wilton in Wellington.
64 teams, 254 bowlers plus their support crew poured into Waikanae Bowling Club for prestigeous Tournament.
A beautiful Warm Saturday was spoiled only by a sudden downpour and flooding that caused the last game to be cancelled that afternoon.
Sunday was cold, cold, cold, the teams were divided by ranking into Top 8 into main finals
Next 8 into plate final and then gala teams.
The overall winner was Chris Avery's 4 from Foxton Beach which was running hot, (excuse the pun) Congratulation!
Phil Gausel's 4 from Pirongia won the plate final
Rob (Popeye)Mckintyre
Topped the gala field.
All in all it was a wonderful experience enjoyed by all.

Our wonderful Bar Manager Bryan ( Boof) Scown won the chance to Pick the Joker this Friday. He sticks to the same lucky numbers each week but he couldn't find the Joker.
Its over $1000 this Friday coming and I will be away. NO Hanky Panky but some one has got to win it soon
