WCC held its 1st of 3 winter series AC tournaments yesterday in beautiful sunshine and attracted players from Hamilton East, Howick, Pukekohe, Te Awamutu, Paeroa, Katikati, Morrinsville, Whangamata and Waihi.
Section One winner Dave Roberts (Katikati) and Runner Up (after a pegoff) Maree Burt (Whangamata). Section Two winner Greg Thomas (Hamilton East) and Runner up Keith Robinson (Waihi). Section Three winner Matti Clarkson (Howick) and Runner up Sarah Lin (Pukekohe).
Thanks to Sheryl on kitchen duties and the soups makers. The games were played in good spirit and a great day was had by all.

Last Saturday 4 Waihi club members traveled to Mount Maunganui to play in the 2nd of their Winter tournaments. The day was a cool winters day, however 16 players contested their divisions. Our Waihi members did well. Chris Browne runnerup 2nd division Keith Robinson runnerup 3rd division, and Lesley Chapman runnerup 4th division. Congratulations to you all.

On Saturday we had our AGM and annual club awards. A great turnout for the AGM, 23 members were in attendance A game of Golf Croquet preceded the meeting to get everyone in the mood At the AGM 2 members were awarded Life memberships. Congratulations to Carol Woodd and Ian Falconer. Both these players have contributed to the success of the Waihi Croquet Club over many years.

The President Don McClumpha then presented the awards. Congratulations to all the trophy winners across both codes Association and Golf Croquet, it is great to celebrate the successes of our members.

After the AGM and Club awards a shared lunch was had, with a beautiful array of food then a game of GC to finish the day and work off that lunch.

On Saturday 5 Waihi Association Croquet players travelled to Mount Maunganui to compete in the drawn doubles winter tournament. The day was a beautiful Autumn day with the sun shining and the lawns in superb condition, also very fast, which proved to be challenging for some of us. Sixteen players competed,with players from Whakatane, Hamilton East, Whangamata, Waihi and Mount Maunganui.
Our Waihi club did exceptionally well with 3 of our members bringing home the spoils. Section 1 Runner Up Chris Brown

WCC would like to thank New World Waihi for their generous sponsorship of our recent AC "high tea" tournament held on 31/3/26. We attracted players from Mt Maunganui, Katikati, Morrinsville, Whangamata, Hamilton East, and Waihi, with the place getters receiving a hamper kindly provided by New World Waihi. Section 1 was won by Keith Robinson (Waihi) 2nd Clive Taylor ( Katikati) 3rd Jacqui Taylor (Mt Maunganui). Section 2 was won by Chris Conroy (Whangamata) 2nd Elana Huang (Hamilton East) 3rd Eric Jebb (Waihi). Congratulations to the prize winners, thanks to New World Waihi for supporting our club and the local community, and a big thanks to Sheryl and her team on kitchen duties, great job!

The TVCA Silver badge playoffs were played at Waihi croquet club on Tuesday 17/3/26. Intermediate Grade was Maree Burt (Whangamata) vs Don McClumpha (Waihi), B Grade Kay Robinson (Whangamata) vs Keith Robinson (Waihi), and C Grade Grace Everest (Morrinsville) vs Eric Jebb (Waihi), with the winners being Don McClumpha, Kay Robinson and Eric Jebb. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to Kay Robinson (TVCA AC Events co-ordinator) for organizing a great day, and Gwen Falconer for refereeing duties.

WCC would like to say a huge thankyou to everyone that participated in the Thames Valley 74th AC Annual last week. It was a fantastic event played over 4 days with players from Whangarei, Orewa, Te Awamutu, Hamilton East, Morrinsville, Whangamata, Mount Maunganui, Paeroa and Waihi; Handicap doubles were played the 1st 2 days followed by level singles the last 2 days. The players playing in their grades with many of these matches going to the wire.
We are very grateful to Waihi Lifecare for their generous sponsorship. A big thank you to Steven, owner and CEO of Waihi Lifecare who came and opened our tournament. Waihi Lifecare do an amazing job supporting our local community.

WCC would like to thank OceanaGold Waihi for supporting our club with sponsorship of our AC BBQ Tournament on Thursday. We attracted players from Morrinsville, Mt Maunganui, Katikati, Whangamata, Paeroa and Waihi.
