Every Bowen Therapist has heard it:

"๐˜ฝ๐™ช๐™ฉ ๐™ข๐™ฎ ๐™จ๐™๐™ค๐™ช๐™ก๐™™๐™š๐™ง ๐™ž๐™จ ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐™ฅ๐™ง๐™ค๐™—๐™ก๐™š๐™ข..."

Sometimes it is.

Sometimes it isn't.

The body is an extraordinary network of interconnected systems, constantly adapting to movement, stress, previous injuries, hormones, habits and daily life.

Bowen Therapy invites us to look beyond the obvious, appreciate those connections, and work with the body as the integrated whole it has always been.

Why do people tend to report feeling good after Bowen Therapy?

Gentle touch and bodywork have a direct impact on lowering the stress hormones that create "flight/flight/freeze," and can boost "feel-good" neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin, endorphins, and oxytocin.

Fascia โ€” the bodyโ€™s connective web โ€” wraps around and supports every muscle, bone, nerve, and organ, holding the whole body together.

When itโ€™s healthy, it helps us move with ease, stability, and flow.

When itโ€™s tight or restricted, the whole body can feel it.

Gentle therapies like Bowen work with fascia, supporting the bodyโ€™s ability to release tension and restore fluid movement, to the best of its ability.

Because when fascia feels free, so do you.

Just as fascia can harden without adequate movement and hydration, our bodies, minds, and beings can stagnate without nourishing growth.

Wishing you renewal, gentle change, and rejuvenating growth in the year ahead.

Happy New Year, from all of us at Bowen Association Australia.

Some things shift quickly. Others take time.

Bowen Therapy respects the pace of your body and its many layers of experience.

Itโ€™s not about fixing โ€” itโ€™s about working with.

Take a closer look at the amazing structure of the human amniotic membrane in this coloured scanning electron micrograph.

This thin, transparent tissue surrounds and protects the developing foetus in the womb, and is made up of several layers โ€” the epithelium, compact layer, fibroblast layer, and the outer spongy layer. Together, this intricate network of fibres and cells plays a vital role in health and development before birth.

Connection is woven into us from the very beginning.

Bowen Therapy gently works with these same intricate systems โ€” fascia, nerves, and tissues โ€” to remind the body how to find balance and ease, as best itโ€™s able.

A Hidatsa woman named Waheenee, born around 1839, made it her mission to ensure her tribe's ancient gardening techniques were never forgotten. ๐ŸŒฑ

Between 1907 and 1918, she shared her people's deep knowledge of agriculture, cooking, and daily life with an ethnographer.

Her incredible wisdom was published in 1917 in a book called "Buffalo Bird Woman's Garden," creating a permanent record of a fading way of life.

She wasn't alone in this vital work of preservation.

Around the same time, an ethnologist named Frances Densmore traveled the United States with a wax cylinder phonograph.

Over several decades, she recorded over 2,000 songs from various tribes, preserving their musical heritage for all time. ๐Ÿ“–

Meanwhile, in Connecticut, a Mohegan woman named Gladys Tantaquidgeon dedicated her life to documenting traditional medicine and ancient healing practices.

Her detailed work not only preserved Mohegan culture but was instrumental in helping her tribe achieve federal recognition in 1994.

These women understood the importance of their heritage and worked tirelessly to create a bridge for future generations to connect with their past.
