With no chance for any trainings for our
Wal Gordon Plumbing U12s earlier in the week, we knew we had a task on our hands with our first hit out ever on Kilbernie Park.

Our warm ups were a small training session going over everyone's jobs ending with a team run and alot of body contact.

Although the score was high, Poneke played hard the whole 60 minutes with the hardest running 2nd five in our grade.
This young girl in the Red & Black ran threw our back line 5 times scoring at least three easy tries.

But credit to our Taka team, we showed our strength and determination all over the park with our forwards dominating the clean out area and our 2nd five Fraser Earl scoring two tries and setting up a couple.

Our Flanker Amiria Ranapia was on 🔥 her ellusiveness showed exactly why she is arguably the best number 7 in the U12 grade doting the ball down five times.

🏆PODS 🏆
Marcel Brink, Tawhi Mahuri-Tukukino,
Fraser Earl, Nazreth Stevens.
With Amiria Ranapia and Marcel Brink receiving POD ribbons from Poneke.

🏅Marcel is a real credit to his family, a humble boy who plays for the betterment of his team. He scored a try and put pressure on the
Red & Black all over the park. Getting noticed from the Poneke team also.

🏅Tawhi week in week out puts in his 110% he really understands the game and set up an easy couple trys with his kick chases and had some hearty bullyish defence.

🏅Fraser has had a killer season in the inside backs cutting some crazy lines and he had their defence line scratching their heads a few times through the game. He has been a huge asset to our team with tons of determination and a go hard or go home attitude.

🏅Naz has stepped up big time never playing rugby before, he was exciting with the ball in hand smashing through their forward pack numerous times and his clearing out sent a shiver up your spine.

🏅Amiria managed five trys, a record for us this season and she just seems to just be warming up lol. Her support play was on point picking up a couple easy trys from off loads. She had some crazy determination to bust through the defence line and run 40 - 50 meters to dot down another couple times.

Thank you to everyone for your support this season we are very thankful and I think it was a very successful one for our young Taka U12s.
That was our last hit out for 2018 and have our Prize Giving next weekend. Lookout for our photos.

Kia ora Whanau
Our Wal Gordon Plumbing U12s knew what we were in for having played this team earlier in the season.
We did come up with the W then but really had to fight for it.

We were looking to tidy up our play from the last two weeks to end our season strong, which we did through a tough straight running pick and go from Marcel putting us on the board first.

Riley was on form out on the wing again winning a couple one on one battles to get us over the line twice and his defence was also on point not letting much past him.

A try to our 1st five Fraser and another to our number 7 Amiria put us ahead with three conversions going over from our first cousin kickers Josh and Nathan.

🏆PODS 🏆
Seth Kempton and Josh Tia were our PODS with Nazreth Stevens picking up a ribbon from Para-Plim.

🏅Seth was totally on his game not missing one tackle and saving two trys from the fullback position, his running and support play really stood out helping his team with the win.

🏅Josh once again dominated through the middle of the park with crunching tackles, strong ball carrying and awesome support play. He is a great leader in our team and knows how to get his team working.

🎖Naz made his presence felt in the second half with a couple of punishing runs through middle getting really close to the line in one of them, and then just being a total menace on defence with some powerful cleaning out.
Well done Boys.

One more week to go before the 2018 season ends, we have had another strong 15 weeks of rugby with some really great team work and a good bunch of Whanau going into our U13s year.

What a weekend for junior rugby at Taka, the sun was shining with a lite nor-wester coming over the hills.

The challenge for our Wal Gordon Plumbing U12s was again a team who we hadn't ever played, a couple hard trainings through the week to try and pick up on a few things we let ourselves down with against Tawa seen us looking good on Thursday night.

We started the first quarter with some great running rugby trys, coming from both our backs and our big prop Naz running off the back of a ruck.
The second quarter seen some really intense cleaning out at the break down and a couple more trys to us.

The second half Pram were a totally different team spreading the ball wide out to their speedsters who seemed to just slip through our defence line.
They put on all the trys we had against them,
it was game on.

Our Taka kids were getting desperate in the last 10 throwing everything they had at these Coastys even getting over the line in the dying minutes but being held up.
Another great game in the end with a draw which I think was deserved by both teams.

🏆PODS 🏆

Nawaia Kale-Puru & Jamaine Taiaroa were our PODS with Nikau Nicholls picking up a ribbon from Paraparaumu.

🏅I think this has been Nawaias best season at Taka leading alot of charges forward and setting some quality ball for his team to clear out, he has been working hard to do his job and it's showing on the field.

🏅Jamaine seemed to be at the ball when ever it popped out at the ruck so away he went with it, he has also been working hard this season and is doing well for his first year playing ruggers.

🏅As soon as that whistle blows Nikau turns into a different person, he is not a weighty boy but his aggression is 💯. He was unlucky not to get our last try but played his Taka heart out.
Well done boys!!

Only two weeks left in our season and I think we've had a mild winter really, bring on those warm ☀️summer months I say lol.

Kia ora Taka U12 Whanau

We worked on a couple of things at training this week to tie up some loose ends from our encounter with Poneke.

With an early kick off at Lyndhurst #1 it was a buzz for our young Taka team to visit a new club and field. The field was damp but had a good running surface.

Tawa were first on the board with some hard back line running and their winger stepping through two of our players dotting down under the posts.

Nathan Huntsman and Fraser Earl scored a try each for Taka in the first half and we were down by a try and two conversions going into the break.

We looked ok in the third quarter with some of the hardest defending we have done this season a couple failed attempts at the line and then letting a couple runners through taking the score away from us slowly.

The fourth quarter seen a couple little scuffles between both groups of forwards picking the close quarter intensity up 110%. They kept us scoreless in the second half taking the win.

🎖️🏆PODS🏆🎖️

Our PODS were Ben Cobbum &
Xavier Campbell.
Ben is another new team member to our Taka whanau and his first year playing Rugby, he had some really good ball carrys to the line and his back up play is getting better each week.
Xavier was on 🔥fire🔥 he was very elusive at the pick and go area busting through a good 2-3 defenders each run, giving his team good momentum.

Amiria Ranapia also received a POD ribbon from Tawa for her hearty defence and going head to head with one of other best young girls in our grade I've seen this season. Well done Taka.

With three games left we'll humbly take this loss to the better team on the day and look to build again for next week.
Thanks again to all our team whanau and supporters.

First game back after two weeks off, this definitely was a game of two halves.
Our Taka team came out firing putting 4 trys on the board in the first half, with Poneke coming back in the second taking us right up to our 22 in the dying minutes.

Amiria Ranapia had a nice draw pass with a dummy that got her through their defence line scoring first. Then Nathan Huntsman got in on the action punching through their line for an awesome team try with the ball going through four sets of hands before getting to him.

Our winger Andrew Palu was over next for another great team try, again the ball linking up through the whole backline. Riley Leger got over before the half time whistle with a harty pick and go run close to the line.

Fraser Earl was the only try scorer in the second half busting into the defence and managing to spin out of the tackle to run from half way for his first. And then a good run from 1st five seen his second try.

🏆PODS🏆

Our two PODS were
Jamaine Taiaroa and Andrew Palu.

This is Jamaine's first year playing rugby and his confidence is slowly building each week, he made two or three good runs with the ball and set it up nicely when tackled for his team to retain it.
Andrew again looked at home on his wing with strong running meters and really good support play picking up a try from that.

Nazreth Stevens also picked up a POD ribbon from Poneke for his hard clean tacking and strong clearing out.
Well done Boys.

Our three Wal Gordon Plumbing Rimutaka U12 Rep players had an awesome start to their Rep debuts this afternoon with their team beating Horowhenua-kapiti 45 - 0.
Te Awanui Fowell crossed the line for a sneaky hard faught try 5 meters out burrowing through the Horowhenua-Kapiti players.
Amiria Ranapia was just her usual self putting pressure on their half back, first five and everyone else who tried to run past also making some good running meters.
Tawhi Mahuri-Tukukino was cool calm and collected got his passes away from first five and then was a bully on defence turning over alot of ball at the breakdown. Let's do it all again tomorrow Whanau if you've got nothing on in the morning head to Maidstone park to watch our H/V U13s at 8.30am then the U12s at 10am.

💥"FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS"💥

🐏Taka 41🐏 Avalon 17

Our Wal Gordon Plumbing U12s had our first night game down on the Avalon RFC Turf.
Avalon turned up with some of the biggest boys we have played so far, I knew our forwards were going to play a pivotal part in the game.

The first half was a full on battle mostly in the middle of the park with our forwards running in four trys. Avalon were very determined to break our defence and a very big mobile #8 finally cut an awesome line over us picking their spirits up.

A quick little team talk while waiting on their kick where I said to keep tighter around tackle area and maybe commit two players on their big runners with stronger clearing out.

With that our Hutt Valley Rep Amiria Ranapia really stepped up and ran through what looked like their whole front pack stepping, fending and smashing over the line four times in the end.

🏆PODS🏆
Braden Kumeroa and Riley Leger received our ribbons with Amiria Ranapia picking up POD from Avalon.

Braden had a week off with a hand injury from our Upper Hutt game and looked like fire with the ball in hand. He made some fast running meters and you just knew he was on a mission to get over that white line, crossing in the second half.

Riley has been on form this season and missed out on getting over the line on Friday. But his work ethic on the field stood out putting alot of pressure on him self to do good for his team. He's not a big fula out on the wing but his tackling and cleaning out at the break down gets his team up every week.

Once again thank you to all who came down and supported us we definitely felt the love from the sideline.
Thanks to my team Whanau for once again backing our kids and bringing hot milos for our kids after the game.
We had a few injuries on Friday so a couple weeks off sounds good for our team.

🐏💥TAKA 43 UPPER HUTT 7💥🐏

What an awesome Rimutaka Club Day.
Thank you too all that helped out with Kai & around the Clubrooms.

First up a big ups to Te Awanui Fowell who got a late call up to join the Hutt Valley U12 Reps, Tumeke T.
So we have three players representing our Club from the U12s team, Tawhi Mahuri-Tukukino, Amiria Ranapia & Te Awanui Fowell

Our kids once again showed that basic rugby mixed with alot of fitness and a ton of passion really counts. We played as a solid unit across the field only letting in the one try throughout the game.

Our forwards played a pivotal role in our success today, although the Upper Hutt forwards were all over us in the scrums winning at least 6 of Our 8 scrums easy.

But what ball we did lose our inside backs managed to recover through alot of the break down play, turning over to our hungry awaiting forwards again.

Our PODS were Fraser Earl & Andrew Palu.
Fraser has had the flu for the last two weeks and came back today with a burning fire in his Puku, he was devastating on both defence & offence running in 4 trys for his team at first5.

Andrew had a really great game on his wing,
again with solid tacking and his ball in hand running being very elusive leading to setting up a couple of awesome team trys. Well done to both of you Boys.

Fraser also received A POD ribbon from Upper Hutt recognising his efforts. 👍

Thank you too our Ref today Matua Sam McLean who kept our game running as well as teaching along the way, and also to our U/H RAMS PREMIER representatives who ran our side lines.

Also a big thank you to all our Whanau for your support on our sidelines today, as always we are very vocal but always keep it positive. Well done to all our teams who competed and I think Rugby was the real winner today.

🏈33 TAKA 10 AXEMEN🏈

That's 3 out of 3 for our Wal Gordon Plumbing U12s in this first round. We should all be extremly proud of our Taka kids, the hard fought game they played yesterday was inspiring to watch. We defended most of the first half only giving away one try and that defence was very brutal.

Axemen threw everything they had at our line but that Taka heart just kept pumping and grinding. We had 6 kids away but showed our depth within the team with a good mixture of Hearty Forward battles and then punishing line breaking from our backs.

PODS were Nikau Nicholls & Nazreth Stevens. Nikau was all over that turf, he turned up after a couple weeks away in Raro hungry to smash, bash & crash and was instrumental in a couple of our trys. He is not a big boy but punches way above weight and never leaves the field with gas in the tank.

Now for a young fula that hasn't played age grade rugby untill U12s Naz is really exciting to watch, he has settled in to our Team Whanau perfect. He is a prop that is as fast as a couple of our wingers lol he was unlucky not to get his first try just coming short a couple times, but set a good balls for our next runners who did score. Well done Boys.

Amiria Ranapia also received a POD ribbon from the Axemen she is ripping this season up big time. That is 4 from 5 games from the opposition.

We have our Club Day next week playing UpperHutt Falcons so we want to keep our Rams rolling and show our whole Taka Whanau what our team is about.
