Time to meet another one of our amazing instructors here at Zap Fitness - Miss Holly.

Not only does Holly teach Stretch and Pilates, she is also the owner of Refine Studios, teaching ballet and movement to a range of ages and abilities.

We asked Holly the same questions we asked all of our instructors to help you get to known her a bit better.

1. What’s your superhero origin story — how did you become a fitness trainer?

Movement has always been my superpower. I grew up in dance, then became fascinated by how bodies move, stay strong long-term, and how movement supports mindset. After having two children and stepping away from movement for a while, I felt it deeply — physically and mentally. Returning to training with my old dance teacher (now a fitness instructor) changed everything, and I found my happy place again. That’s why I teach — to help people feel their best in body and mind.

2. If you could only do one workout forever, what would it be (and why)?

Pilates, hands down. It hits everything — strength, mobility, control — and you can level it up with weights and props. Strength paired with mobility is key for quality of life, and Pilates does that beautifully.

3. What is your secret weapon for staying pumped on lazy days?

Momentum over motivation. I just start — even five minutes. And honestly, getting to the studio, seeing everyone, and feeling the community vibe always lifts me.

4. Which fitness myth makes you want to do a dramatic eye roll?

That there’s only one way to train. Different bodies, goals, and different seasons of life need different approaches — and that’s a good thing.

5. What food would you cry about if it disappeared from the world?

Fresh, homemade pasta. Simple. Perfect.

6. What is the best part of being a super instructor of awesome?

Watching people realise what their body can do — building confidence, strength, and trust in themselves.

7. If someone is coming to one of your classes for the first time, what’s your golden nugget of advice?

Come as you are. Focus on how you feel and move at your own pace, don’t be afraid to modify where needed — but if you want to be challenged, say the word. I love a “one more… you’ve got this.”

8. What is your chill-out, post-workout ritual?

Haha, I have kids — so a quick shower, hydrate, and a mental pat on the back before jumping back into mum life is as good as it gets this season. But honestly, a workout fills my cup and gives me the energy to keep up with my kids and life!

9. Dogs or cats… you will be judged.

Dogs. Always.

10. What is the best bop to work out to?

Anything with a great beat. Music is my escape — I’ll always find a tune to match my mood.

Now we are back at it after a little break, we thought it was about time we introduced you to some of amazing instructors here at Zap Fitness.

First up is our main man Jase.

If you have ever had the privilege of doing one of Jase's Pump or Spin classes, you'll know about his absolute dedication to getting the best out of you. If you haven't had that privilege, we have asked him a few questions to help you to get to know him:

1 - What's your superhero origin story? How did you become a fitness trainer?

My fitness instructing story began 21 years ago… I had always been “gym active” since I was about 13 yrs old and had worked at Les Mills in a couple of capacities, but it wasn’t until I was training on a exercise bike at my local gym that a spin instructor interrupted me and asked if I’d be interested in teaching Spin, apparently they had been watching me for a while training like a lunatic on my own and thought I could share that intensity with others…so I jumped in and haven’t looked back since, absolutely love it..and have since instructed in multiple gyms both here and in Melbourne picking up Pump and one on one boxing along the way…one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

2 - If you could only do one workout forever, what would it be? (and why?).

If I could only do one exercise it would definitely be Spin..the benefits are multiple, the intensity can be dictated to individual needs and it can be maintained into later years..plus if the musics right it's freakin awesome 👍

3 - What is your secret weapon for staying pumped on lazy days?

What keeps me going when I’m struggling, is probably fear, fear that if I don’t push on today then it may instigate the slippery slope to quitting, which is something I can’t afford to do as I get older, I need to be able stay active and functioning for as long as possible plus to be honest my vanity won’t let me stop 🤣

4 - Which fitness myth makes you do a dramatic eye roll?

One that definitely gets my eyes rolling is “That you have to be fit to do Spin” or “That Spin makes your legs huge” ..firstly with Spin you dictate the intensity to your own individual fitness level, so you are only ever going within your 100%..and as you get fitter and stronger you increase the intensity accordingly..So you don’t have to be fit to do Spin, you can start Spin now and become more fit..
…and secondly as my legs can attest to, Spinning definitely does not increase your leg size to huge or anywhere near that ..it is definitely not bodybuilding..

5 - What food would you cry about if it disappeared from the world?

I’m a bit boring when it comes to food..”Food for function, not fun”..but if I had to choose, it would be either chocolate and or chicken wings…seperate though , not together..🤣

6 - What is the best part of being a super instructor of awesome?

The best thing about being an instructor is that it offers a unique opportunity to be a part of someone’s personal journey of self improvement, wether it’s either physical or mental or a combination of both, to be able to hopefully add something constructive and positive is something I find extremely rewarding and a I am very grateful for that privilege …it’s also great to play loud, awesome tunes 🤣

7 - If someone is comming to your classes for the first time, what is your best piece of advice?

I like to remind them that this is their first time, so not to go too hard or extreme or feel pressured to do so but to just take it all in, as the first session really is just about getting an understanding and feel of what it’s all about..and even though they may feel a bit nervous and unsure, that to remember that every person in the room including myself has been where they are now and know exactly how they feel ..so have fun, acknowledge that you’ve followed through with a huge first step and enjoy the tunes man 👍

8 - What is your chill out after workout ritual?

After smashing a session I usually unwind in front of the TV, either mindlessly scrolling , or mindlessly catching up on my trash TV shows, whatever it is I like to tap out for half hour or so…I do like my trash TV.

9 - Dogs or cats?

This one’s easy..Cats all the way, no question..cats are cleaner, smarter and cooler..way cooler!..no offence to dog people, but it’s true..even my Facebook feeds agree 🤣

10 - What is your favourite bop to work out to?

My best “Bop” to work out to is anything loud and assertive..right now I’m in a Rammstein phase, very metal and very loud…very nice🤘😎🤘
