Time to meet another one of our amazing instructors here at Zap Fitness - Miss Holly.
Not only does Holly teach Stretch and Pilates, she is also the owner of Refine Studios, teaching ballet and movement to a range of ages and abilities.
We asked Holly the same questions we asked all of our instructors to help you get to known her a bit better.
1. What’s your superhero origin story — how did you become a fitness trainer?
Movement has always been my superpower. I grew up in dance, then became fascinated by how bodies move, stay strong long-term, and how movement supports mindset. After having two children and stepping away from movement for a while, I felt it deeply — physically and mentally. Returning to training with my old dance teacher (now a fitness instructor) changed everything, and I found my happy place again. That’s why I teach — to help people feel their best in body and mind.
2. If you could only do one workout forever, what would it be (and why)?
Pilates, hands down. It hits everything — strength, mobility, control — and you can level it up with weights and props. Strength paired with mobility is key for quality of life, and Pilates does that beautifully.
3. What is your secret weapon for staying pumped on lazy days?
Momentum over motivation. I just start — even five minutes. And honestly, getting to the studio, seeing everyone, and feeling the community vibe always lifts me.
4. Which fitness myth makes you want to do a dramatic eye roll?
That there’s only one way to train. Different bodies, goals, and different seasons of life need different approaches — and that’s a good thing.
5. What food would you cry about if it disappeared from the world?
Fresh, homemade pasta. Simple. Perfect.
6. What is the best part of being a super instructor of awesome?
Watching people realise what their body can do — building confidence, strength, and trust in themselves.
7. If someone is coming to one of your classes for the first time, what’s your golden nugget of advice?
Come as you are. Focus on how you feel and move at your own pace, don’t be afraid to modify where needed — but if you want to be challenged, say the word. I love a “one more… you’ve got this.”
8. What is your chill-out, post-workout ritual?
Haha, I have kids — so a quick shower, hydrate, and a mental pat on the back before jumping back into mum life is as good as it gets this season. But honestly, a workout fills my cup and gives me the energy to keep up with my kids and life!
9. Dogs or cats… you will be judged.
Dogs. Always.
10. What is the best bop to work out to?
Anything with a great beat. Music is my escape — I’ll always find a tune to match my mood.
