๐Ÿ“ข Park update ๐Ÿ“ข

Quite a bit happening around the park at present, thought it was about time for an update!

There is fresh 65mm aggregate on the northern end of Station Drive and Goat Rock, which has been laid by the logging company in preparation for the September harvest. It's still rideable, but fairly rough and uncompacted - as well as sharp in places.

Work continues apace on the Flow-K loop. Ricky has finished Back to the Flow and almost completed Up Flow. Both of these remain closed while they bed in - please keep tyres off them until they're reopened, and keep anceye out for closure signs on Flow-K itself - Ricky will be attacking this next.

And finally: the trail pixies have been at work on Lower Pig. The roll in has been raked and a high line reinstated a couple of corners down. Of more note, we have also rebuilt the collapsing berm just before the small uphill rock roll. Like everything else, it's pretty soft, so please give it some time to bed in!

๐Ÿšง ATTENTION ALL RIDERS ๐Ÿšง

Ricky from Slack Trails will be starting work on a rejuvenation of the Flow-K loop on the Kaitoke trails from tomorrow (29/04). He'll be starting on Back to the Flow, which will be closed while undertakes these works (goodbye, Corners of Doom!).

After BttF, Ricky will be working his way around the rest of the loop. While these works are underway, please obey all warning signs, and trail closures. Keep an eye out here for further advisory notices and updates.

Big thanks to Greater Wellington for making this happen ๐Ÿ™Œ

๐Ÿ“ขAttention all trail users๐Ÿ“ข

As many of you will be aware, the Tunnel Gully Bike Trails run through a working pine forest. We have had confirmation that several blocks of pines are set to be logged by Forest360 from 1 September 2026. Details are as follows:

Which pines?

All of the pine trees between Station Drive and Goat Rock Road. This is the forest on your right if you are heading north towards the incline.

So 1 September is D-Day?

Yes - at this stage, although keep an eye on this page for any updates. Forest360 will also be doing some site preparation in April (road maintenance and vegetation trimming), but the park will remain open for this.

Will the park still be open?

Yes - after hours. Forest360 have advised that the approximate hours of operation will be 5am to 5pm on weekdays. During this time the trails will be closed for recreation. They may also be closed additionally if required - e.g. in high wind events. This logging does not affect the park outside the area between Station Drive and Goat Rock Road - feel free to ride up Mount Climie as much as you want!

What does this mean for the trails?

The trails in the forest above Station Drive/off Goat Rock Road will be closed while the logging takes place. Realistically, they will also be affected by the dozens of trees dropped all over them. However, this is also an opportunity to create a whole new series of trails (and/or reinstatement), once the logging has finished.

The affected trails above Station Drive/off Goat Rock Road are:
Taniwha
Bees to Bridge
Bee Line
Beeswitched
2 Bee Line
250 East climb + descent

What else should I know?

First up, the trails on the lower side of Station Drive will still be operating (outside of logging hours). We also have the Flow-K loop on the Kaitoke side, which is unaffected. Trail digs will continue to run - there are plenty of trails that still need looking after ๐Ÿช.

We will provide further information as it comes to hand. Keep an eye on the page - and feel free to shoot us a message if you have any queries ๐Ÿ™‚.

Cheers and happy trails,

Graham @ TGBT

After lots of interruptions from Wellington's "summer" weather, Flow-K has been groomed from top to bottom. It's ready to shred, just in time for the weekend.

Thanks to everyone who lent a hand over the past few weeks. Flow-K is always a big job and your support, sweat, and gorse scratches mean a lot ๐Ÿ™Œ ๐Ÿป

Yesterday evening a team of three hardy trail builders reopened The Wolf, which connects the Pylon Loop Road to the Flow-K descent.* They also began the trim/groom of the Flow-K descent, including the A and B lines at the top ๐Ÿค˜

*turn right at the road after the Flow-K descent and head up Pylon Loop Road until you see signs for Half Flow/The Wolf (new trail signage coming soon).

๐Ÿ“ข UPDATE 20/02/2026 ๐Ÿ“ข

Greater Wellington advise that their maintenance crew sorted the tree today. Thanks for all your, mahi team! ๐Ÿ™Œ

๐Ÿšจ ATTENTION ALL RIDERS ๐Ÿšจ

One of our famously lazy pine trees is lying down on the job again. This one at the exit / run out of Times Tables and Lower Pig Track, just before the culvert. It's low enough that it isn't able to be ridden under.

Please take care if you do intend to ride either trail. GWRC have been made aware, so we will update when the chainsaw crew have dealt to it.

๐Ÿšจ Attention trail crew ๐Ÿšจ

Tomorrow's Flow-K dig /groom session is off. The weather is forecasted to ease, but it'll be much too wet for the scrub-cutter. Let alone trying to stay upright on soggy clay!

We'll see everyone next week with some better weather (hopefully) ๐Ÿ˜
