💙💛🏆 KAIWHAIKI B1 SILVERS – SENIOR 2ND CHAMPIONS! 🏆💙💛

What. A. Final. 😮‍💨🏐

Our Kaiwhaiki B1 Silvers dug incredibly deep this afternoon to take out the Senior 2nd Grand Final, defeating Tech C1 24–22 in overtime!

Going into the final minus four players – two injured, one overseas and one out of town – the Silvers had just their starting seven and one sub available. An enormous effort in a game where every ball mattered. 💪

Trailing 4–6 at quarter time, the Silvers adjusted their circle attack, sending flatter, faster ball into their shooters. It paid off, taking them to a 12–11 halftime lead, before they ground out the third quarter to head into the final spell ahead 18–16.

A strong start stretched that lead to 20–16... and then came the dreaded momentum swing. 😬

In what felt like the blink of an eye, Tech levelled at 20-all and then went ahead 21–20.

From there, it was absolute finals netball chaos! 😂 Turnovers. Held balls. Intercepts. Passes into outerspace. We gained possession. Threw it away. Tech threw it away. We got it back. Lost it again. 😅

The oohs and aahs from the sideline were coming thick and fast! Eventually, a flying drive into the circle finished with a one-legged, wobbly – but nailed it – shot to make it 21-all! 🙌

Tech responded to lead 22–21 before the Silvers fought their way back to 22-all. With only seconds remaining and Tech centre pass, a massive intercept from out of nowhere sent the ball back towards our shooting circle.

FULL-TIME: 22–22.

Overtime. 😳

Kaiwhaiki scored first to lead 23–22, but judging by the bewildered faces on court, the requirement to keep playing until one team held a two-goal advantage may not have featured prominently in the pre-game team talk! 😂

So the sideline took over...

KEEP PLAYING! 📣📣📣

Then, when it mattered most – our centre pass, a perfectly executed CPA and the winning goal!

24–22. GAME. GRAND FINAL. CHAMPIONS. 🏆💙💛

A special mihi to Tech C1 – deserved finalists who played a beautiful game and contributed to an absolute thriller.

It was definitely not a game for the light-hearted, but what an incredible display of determination, resilience and sheer guts from our wāhine. With limited numbers, tired legs and a final that could have gone either way, they just kept fighting for one another.

We are incredibly proud of our Kaiwhaiki B1 Silvers and the way they pushed through this season to finish it together as Senior 2nd Champions!

The Silvers secured their place in tomorrow’s final after a convincing 46–21 win over Station United Crushers A1 last weekend. What an awesome performance to earn their spot on the big stage! 💪💙💛

💙💛 KAIWHAIKI B2 BLUES – WHAT A WAY TO FINISH! 💙💛

A big mihi to our Kaiwhaiki Bluez, who wrapped up their season on Saturday with a fantastic 33–16 win over Tech B1! 🏐🔥

The team finished 5th in the Senior Second Grade, and we couldn’t be prouder of them. Week after week, they got out on court, represented or club, backed each other and, most importantly, enjoyed their netball together. 💙💛

Congratulations to all our B2 Blues players and everyone who supported them throughout the season. A great finish to a great season!

With our Premier teams wrapping up their season, the finals action now shifts to our Saturday teams, with both Kaiwhaiki B1 Silvers and Kaiwhaiki B2 Bluez having completed their Senior 2nd round-robin games.

This Saturday they head into their semi-final against Station United Crushers A1. These two sides met just last weekend, with our Silvers taking a convincing win — but finals netball is a whole new game, and they'll be ready to go again!

And this one has all the makings of a cracker! The two teams met in last week's final round-robin game, with our Bluez going down by just ONE goal. 😮‍💨 So you know they'll be hungry for the rematch!

💙💛🏆 BACK-TO-BACK PREMIER ONE CHAMPIONS! 🏆💛💙

KAIWHAIKI A1 – PREMIER ONE CHAMPIONS 2026!

What a night. What a team. What a season! 💙💛

Our Kaiwhaiki A1 have done it — taking out the Premier One Grand Final, defeating WHS A1 36–28 and becoming BACK-TO-BACK PREMIER ONE CHAMPIONS! 🏆🏆

And for Kaiwhaiki Netball, this one is extra special.

✨ For the first time in our club’s history, we are back-to-back Premier One Champions. ✨

From the opening whistle tonight, our A1s were composed, confident and in control. They built the lead quarter by quarter — 10–4, 20–11, 29–20 and finally 36–28 — and never allowed the occasion to become bigger than the job they had come to do.

But perhaps one of the most impressive things about tonight was the depth and versatility of this team. Every player was able to take the court, players moved into various positions, and no matter what combination was out there, they continued to get the job done.

That speaks volumes about this group.

It wasn't about one player or one moment. It was a whole-team performance — built on trust, hard work, adaptability and playing for one another. 💪🏽

And really, tonight was the perfect way to finish what has been an outstanding season.

To our A1 players — congratulations. You have represented our club with enormous pride. You have worked hard, backed each other, stepped up when required and earned this moment. Enjoy it. You are Premier One Champions — again! 🏆💙💛

To our coaches, management and everyone who has worked behind the scenes — thank you. Success like this doesn't just happen on Grand Final night. It comes from all those trainings, conversations, sacrifices, decisions and hours that most people never see. This championship belongs to you too.

And then there is our whānau. 💙💛

What an absolutely incredible turnout tonight!

To look in the stands and see so much blue and gold, to hear the support from the sideline and to see our wider Kaiwhaiki whānau standing behind our team was something pretty special.

Thank you not only for tonight, but for every game, every week and all the support you have given our teams throughout this season. Our players know when you are there. They hear you. They feel that support.

These moments are even better because we get to share them together.

Tonight we celebrate our players.
We celebrate our coaches and management.
We celebrate our whānau.
And we celebrate a little piece of Kaiwhaiki Netball history. 💙💛

An incredible final game from our Kaiwhaiki A2 Golds, finishing their season with a powerful 53–35 WIN over Marist A2! 🏐🔥

And what a performance to finish on! Tonight really showed the true potential of this side — the connections, confidence, determination and teamwork were all there. They played for each other, backed themselves and finished their season showing exactly what they are capable of. 💪🏽💙💛

To our players — thank you for representing Kaiwhaiki with pride throughout the season. Keep believing in yourselves, keep growing and keep enjoying your netball. There is so much talent and potential within this group, and tonight was a wonderful reminder of that.

A massive mihi to our management for the countless hours, encouragement and commitment you have given to this team throughout the season. And to our whānau and supporters — thank you for being on the sidelines, cheering them on and continuing to support Kaiwhaiki Netball. 💙💛

A season is about so much more than the final score — but finishing with a 53–35 victory certainly feels pretty special! 🙌🏽🔥

Hold your heads high, Golds. You finished strong, you finished together, and you gave us plenty to be proud of.
