Lewis felt the facilities at NZCIS - NZ Campus of Innovation and Sport – which will include on-site accommodation – would make the Phoenix a more attractive club for players to play for.

“This is better than what other A-League teams can provide,” she said.

“The facilities here are unbelievable and world-class. The fact we can bring players here and experience what high performance sport really is is incredible.

“It’s a carrot for us.”

Gemma Lewis has been retained for another season, giving her a chance to build on the club’s promising first season in the A-League Women.
