🚨 Uawa Horse Sports Club Needs Your Help 🚨

Following our recent AGM, we urgently need to appoint a new Executive Committee.

Without an Executive Committee, our Club cannot continue to operate.

We're now calling for expressions of interest to fill the following Executive roles:

⭐ President
⭐ Vice President
⭐ Secretary
⭐ Treasurer

(The Secretary and Treasurer roles may be combined.)

These roles are essential to the governance and day-to-day operation of the Club, including overseeing finances, securing funding, supporting our members and ensuring events can continue.

Once our Executive Committee has been established, we'll also be looking to appoint members to our General Committee in the following portfolios:

• Events & Logistics
• Activities & Development
• Media & Promotion

No previous experience is required. If you care about horse sports in our community and are willing to contribute, we'd love to hear from you.

This is formal notice of the Uawa Horse Sports Club Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Our AGM provides an opportunity for our members, whānau, stakeholders, and hapori to come together, reflect on the past year, and help shape the future direction of our club.

As we have reached the end of our current committee’s three-year term, all committee positions will be open for election.

Vacant Positions include:
• President
• Vice President
• Secretary
• Treasurer
• General Committee Members

This is your opportunity to support our kaupapa with fresh ideas, new visions, and to tautoko the aspirations of our whānau and community.

If you are passionate about:
• Growing opportunities for our riders and whānau
• Supporting our tamariki and rangatahi, and making mokopuna-focused decisions
• Strengthening our club and community
• Preserving and building on the legacy of Uawa Horse Sports Club

SGM Cancellation Notice

Kia ora e te whānau,

The previously proposed Special General Meeting (SGM) is no longer required and has been cancelled.

At our SGM held on 18 July 2025, members approved an amended Constitution to meet requirements set by the Inland Revenue Department for an income tax exemption.

Following this, when we registered the updated Constitution with the Incorporated Societies Register, our club was automatically re-registered under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022.

As a result, we are already compliant with the new Act, and there is no need to hold a further SGM.

A Special General Meeting will be held to consider and adopt amendments to our Constitution to ensure it complies with the new requirements under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022.

The purpose of this SGM is to present and vote on the proposed constitutional amendments so our club remains compliant and in good standing under the new Act.

Hui agenda will be emailed 7 days prior to hui with a copy of the draft amendments.

Kia ora! We hope you have all had a restful and safe break over the holiday period, surrounded by whānau, horses and good company. As we step into the new year, we are really looking forward to coming together for our 2026 horse sports at Mangaheia.

⏰ Online registrations will remain open until midnight Wednesday 14th January

We are encouraging everyone to register online where possible as it helps our volunteers on the day and keeps things running smoothly.

If you are unable to register online, the registration tent will be open on the day from 7:30am to 8:30am.

✅Camping is available at the venue on Friday 16th January
✅Toilets and showers are available on site
✅Dinner will be provided on Friday night for campers
✅Prizegiving kai will be provided after the sports on Saturday
✅Vendors will be on site throughout the day on Saturday with kai available to purchase

👉 Please make sure you complete the catering section in the registration form so we can ensure we have enough kai for everyone. This really helps us plan and avoids running short.

🐎 Calm Stride Horsemanship is coming HOME 🐎
Uawa Horse Sports Club is proud to host a two-day horsemanship clinic with Tyrone Bird, head trainer of Calm Stride Horsemanship, supported by Chloe Cook and Blake C***s.

This clinic focuses on calm, practical horsemanship built on trust, respect, and clear communication. You’ll work from the ground through to the saddle, building confident, willing horses and riders who understand what they are asking and why.
This clinic is suited to riders who are already confident handling and riding their own horse. It is not a beginner clinic.

🐎 Two Day Clinic | 📅 Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th
📍 Uawa Domain Field 2, Forster Street Entry | ⚠️ Limited to 12 rider spots

We did a thing.

Yesterday we took our annual members horse trek out to Waihau Bay and honestly the vibe was unreal. Horses, good people, kai, sunshine and that East Coast magic you can’t fake.

We are looking at doing more whānau friendly days like this. Horses. Good energy. Good food. Real community. If you want in on the members only rides and events, this is your sign to join the club and come be part of it.

A huge mihi to everyone who came through. And a big sorry to those we didn’t manage to film. Our GoPro and drone were either up the front or stuck in the middle so if you were cruising at the back, we probably missed you on video, arohamai. We did get heaps of photos though and will drop those later.

What a day. What a crew. What a community.
