💙 100 Senior Games. One Club. One Fitzy.

Some players wear the jersey.

Others become part of what it stands for.

Tomorrow, Hamish “Fitzy” Fitzgerald will run out for his 100th Senior match for the Old Boys Sports Club, and it’s a milestone that deserves to be celebrated.

In today’s game, loyalty can be hard to find. Over the years, Fitzy has had opportunities to play elsewhere, but his answer has always been the same.

“This is my club.”

Old Boys isn’t just where he plays rugby. It’s where he belongs.

With Old Boys running through the family thanks to his grandfather, the blue and gold has always meant something special. From his JAB days, to making his way through the grades, to pulling on the Under 20s jersey at just 15 years old, Fitzy has always been proud to represent this club.

If you know Fitzy, you’ll know he doesn’t mind being in the spotlight every now and then! But behind the laughs, the banter and the personality is someone who genuinely bleeds blue and gold. He’s given this club everything over the years, and 100 senior games is a testament to the loyalty, commitment and pride he’s shown every time he’s pulled on the Old Boys jersey.

Congratulations, Fitzy, on an incredible achievement. Your dedication to this club doesn’t go unnoticed, and we’re incredibly proud to have you wearing the blue and gold for your 100th Senior game.

💙 Tomorrow, let’s pack the sidelines and show Fitzy the support he deserves. Get down to the grounds, get behind the boys, and help us celebrate an incredible milestone for one of our own.

👕 What to Wear

All players are required to wear their full playing uniform, just as they would for a Saturday game:

Please do not wear rugby boots.

Players should wear footwear that is easy to remove, as team photos will be taken with all players wearing their rugby socks.

Senior Netball results for last week

🦁 Old Boys A 38 vs Mackenzie 31

Old Boys A had the challenge of taking on a feisty McKenzie side who were coming off a disappointing loss so we knew they would come out strong! Both teams started the game well and there was little opportunity for turnovers with Old Boys up by one at the first break. Mackenzie with their tall and experienced defensive end created pressure in the shooting circle, with their physicality and presence. However Old Boys started to find their rhythm in the third quarter with timely intercepts by Hannah Sewell who has just returned from injury. Another solid game from captain Merekite Wahitapu linking in with her attacking end of Sophie Gill and Sophie Rooney to assist shooter Renette Van Heerden who shot 10 goals in the third quarter, showing both physical and mental strength coping well with the extra attention. A determined Old Boys team demonstrated their ability to fight and control the tempo making good decisions with ball in hand. With Pip Oliver being Mackenzies main target and her shooting game near perfect we needed to upset the flow of the attacking end so Marne Van Zyl came on in the WD and was relentless on defence and a calming influence assisting her mid courters . A well rounded performance and team effort, remaining unbeaten this far this season, taking the win 38-31.

🦁 Old Boys Pride 26 vs Geraldine High School Senior A 27

Our Pride girls came up against a well matched Geraldine High A team this week. The game started well for Old Boys, who looked strong right from the start, leading at the first 9-7 and 17-11 at half time. The game definitely flipped in the third quarter for Old Boys, with a combination of unforced errors and an injury to Mya, the lead slipped to 22-18 at 3 quarter time. The final quarter was very close, and a determined Geraldine HS created more turnover ball and eventually pipped us at the post taking the win 27-26, and giving us our first loss for the season!
