PlayHQ Player Registrations for all clubs playing in South Canterbury Cricket afternoon grades are now open for 2026-27.

Also registration links for teams playing in Canterbury Country or Christchurch Metro competitions are also live.

Please ensure you select the correct button for your grade and club.

Junior (Year 8 and below) do not need to re-register unless you are a new player who wasn't registered at the start of 2026.

REMINDER REGISTRATIONS CLOSE TODAY!!!!

For people who haven't registered their child but want them to play district cricket for South Canterbury, registration nominations close at 5pm today. You are also reminded to pay the $100 nomination deposit by today too.

South Canterbury Cricket District Teams Self-Nomination Registration Form is now OPEN!!

Below is the self-nomination form link for players wishing to play representative cricket for South Canterbury in our Year 7, Year 8 & Year 9 Boys District teams & Girls Yr 7 & 8 and Girls Yr 9 &10 sides who will be attending various Festivals in December and January in 2026 and 2027.

Note * Year 10 Boys and Year 11 & 12 Boys teams are not self-nominated and teams / players will be selected and notified in due course.

If you available to participate please register here in the first instance. There will be a cost including a non-refundable $100 deposit with registration. This deposit is credited against Festival costs if you are in a team. If not selected due to numbers the deposit will be refunded.

Details of each actual team players individual festival costs is detailed in the season outline and schedule document linked below. This is another great opportunity to play in boys and girls matches against other boys and girls teams from throughout the South Island.

Self-nomination registrations close 5pm on Friday September 4th !!!

Remember to pay the deposit when you register. Registrations without deposits will not be considered.

South Canterbury Cricket also had a lot of involvement with Richard and wish to also pass on our condolences to all his family and friends. A sound voice for Canterbury Cricket over many years who made the effort to see the wider district players in his time and many will remember him with his notebook viewing all the players at our underage tournaments.

A sad loss to the cricketing community.

We're saddened to hear the passing of Richard Hayward, who spent 12 years at the heart of Canterbury Cricket's coaching and talent development.

Richard joined CCA in August 2002 as Director of Coaching and Development, later holding the titles of Director of High Performance & Coaching and Performance Manager. Across that decade, he worked closely with coaches throughout the region and helped shape the pathway for a generation of Canterbury cricketers.

He left in 2014 to become General Manager at Nelson Cricket, where he'd also played and was made a Life Member.
Our thoughts are with Richard's family, friends, and the many coaches and players he supported throughout his time in Canterbury cricket.

Over the coming weeks, we have a great opportunity to ensure our coaches are aware of the wide range of virtual learning opportunities available to support their development prior to the cricket season.

Coaches can engage in a variety of virtual learning options, including extension modules, as well as core Development and Advanced Development sessions. These provide a valuable way for coaches to continue their learning and development in a flexible format.
