Great write up again thanks to Connor Haley wrapping up the weekend

Timaru racing driver Corban Sprague has taken another big step in chasing his motorsport dreams. At the weekend Sprague was given the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a 525-horsepower Dodge Challenger and compete in the first TA2 NZ 1-hour endurance race. Sprague made a good start to the weeke...

First weekend in TA2 completed ✅

Now the dust has settled on my first round in the TA2 NZ Series, looking back on it I think it was such an awesome experience and I had such a thrill driving the car. Although we didn’t get the end result in the end due to a fuel pump failure I think we definitely showed the potential is there to fight at the front of this field. It was such a great class to be a part of and I really hope to be back in the class going forward if funding can align.

I ended up Qualifying P3 which was a great start being my first new Tyre run in one of these cars, I unfortunately made a little mistake on my final lap which would’ve put me on the front row but it’s all learning.

The race was going well running inside the top 3 just behind second and lapping the pace of the leaders just looking after the Tyres there for the long race until about 25 minutes in the fuel pump unfortunately failed which resulted in a DNF.

This was obviously gut wrenching but these things unfortunately happen sometimes in Motorsport and after they said this part has failed on them once in 6 years shows just how unlucky it was.

Looking on the positive side I think it was still a great showing for the first time and there’s plenty of positives to take away from the weekend going forward.

I’ve got to say a big thanks to Paul Manuell and Tristan for looking after me for the weekend you guys were awesome! And to TA2 NZ for being so welcoming and being such an enjoyable class to be a part of.

I’ve also got to say a massive thank you to all my backers and supporters for supporting me and making this awesome opportunity possible!

Now to put in the work and try put a budget together to hopefully try progress into this class in the future

Thanks to Ryan Watkinson - Motorsport Visuals for the awesome shots

Devastated!

Running in the top 3 holding the same pace as the leaders and the fuel pump let go at about 25 minutes in!

Nonetheless it’s been such a great experience and I’ve had a ball driving the car.

Hopefully I can get back in one soon.

Full update to come soon

Today was fun!

A great test day today behind the wheel of this weapon. It was great to get some good mileage in the car throughout the day and start to feel quite comfortable in the car. It’s such a different kettle of fish to what I’m used to but loving every second of it.

A break tomorrow for car preparation and a chance for my self to look over some video and data to try and improve for race day on Sunday.

A big thanks to Paul, Tristan and Dad for all your help today and to Mike for helping look over some data.

A big thanks to all my backers and supporters for making this all possible!
