Tomorrow, we welcome Mid Canterbury Hockey and North Otago Hockey Association Under 13 and Under 16 Girls and Boys teams to the Trust Aoraki Hockey Centre.

With the Ian Worner (Boys) and the Robertson (Girls) trophies on the line between the Mid Canterbury and South Canterbury teams there will be plenty of action on the turf.

Games start 9.30am with both turf running all day with a total of 13 games being played.

Casey from O'H Yes Coffee & Catering will be onsite and Mr Whippy will also be there for an ice-cream on a lovely South Canterbury Day.

🥉 How good does Bronze Look! 🥉

A huge congratulations to our Senior Mens team who have earnt the bronze medal in a tense encounter with Hawkes Bay this afternoon at the Ford National Hockey Championships in Wellington.

The lads as they have all week played calm, composed hockey getting their noses in front and hanging on for the W 3-1.

Well done lads, we are all very proud of your efforts all week. 💚🖤

Big thanks to Tim (Coach) and Susan (Manager) for all you have done for this team in the lead up and this week and to our players individual sponosors and Trust Aoraki Limited for their support of this team.

📢 WALKER AND HALL GAMES

At 11am, Tinwald and Tainui (champions of the Mid Canterbury and North Otago competitions respectively) will battle it out on the Alps Turf with the winner earning the right to take on TBHS at 3pm.

They’ll be playing for the Walker Hall Shield, an iconic trophy steeped in history, dating all the way back to 1931. The shield is awarded to the best club side from Mid Canterbury, North Otago and South Canterbury.

Head along and cheer on the teams on this beautiful South Canterbury day ☀️

Tough day at the office for the South Canterbury Men today at the Ford National Hockey Championships coming up against a classy Canterbury team in the semifinal going down 1-7.

We reset and go again tomorrow playing off for the bronze medal at 1.15pm v Hawkes Bay.

🔥 Top Four 🔥

The South Canterbury Senior Men are through to the semifinals after a tight tussle with Auckland this evening in what can only be described as miserable conditions in Wellington!

With games delayed due to flooded turfs the lads had a bit of extra time to think about the game.

Auckland were first to score and the game become a goal for goal battle before the SC lads snuck ahead in the last 10 minutes scoring two unanswered goals to take the match 4-3.

Tomorrow, we face the Canterbury Beavers in the semifinal 2.45pm.

The Senior Men are through to the Quarter Finals at the Ford National Hockey Championships in Wellington after dispatching Counties Manukau 2-0 late yesterday afternoon.

The lads went into the game knowing a draw or win would secure them a QF spot and Counties came at them in a tight physical game which could have gone either way. Locked up 0-0 for the majority of the match it wasn't until the last 7 minutes that we broke the dead lock and then scored again 4 minutes later. A great show of calm composed hockey from the boys.

Today the team are enjoying a rest day before we take on Auckland tomorrow at 6pm.

The SC lads have got points on the board beating Hawkes Bay 4-3 late this afternoon.

After steaming out to a 3-0 lead at halftime the Hawkes Bay team must have had a serious halftime talk as they came out firing in the 3rd quarter getting 2 back on the SC team and another late in the 4th quarter. The lads stayed composed for the last few minutes soaking up huge pressure hanging on to take the match 4-3.

Big day tomorrow as the team take on Counties Manukau Hockey at 4.15pm needing the win to secure a top 2 placing in their pool.

The Senior Men were away in their first game this afternoon v North Harbour.

The teams went into the sheds at halftime locked up 0-0 with both teams having a few chances on goal.

Harbour snuck ahead in the 3rd quarter before the SC lads found the equalizer. Harbour came straight back at us scoring another getting their noses in front with 10 mins to go. We threw everything at them in the last 10 but just couldn't find that elusive goal with Harbour taking the match 2-1.

Tomorrow the lads have the late game again taking on Hawkes Bay at 4.15pm.
