On Saturday 6th June we held our Aerobics competition here in Timaru at Ara gymnasium. The week leading up to the competition was pretty crazy and then we were thwarted by the weather at the very last minute, with our Head Judges’ flight from the North Island being cancelled. This led to some last minute mayhem as we had to re-organise the competition late on Friday night because we were no longer able to run it as a qualifying competition. Thanks to Astra Gymnastics Inc and Invercargill Gymnastic Club for sticking with us and to our amazing judging panel of Lucy, Kate & Anna for their invaluable feedback they gave to all those competing. We are sure everyone got something out of it. Also thanks to our coach Talei for being the steadying force and our Aerobics parents for pulling together to ensure all ran smoothly. Thanks also to Casey-May (who was unable to compete due to injury), Caitlin and Rechelle for their invaluable help on the day. Well done to our girls who competed. Although they we not able to count their scores towards their Nationals qualifying, they all did really well and we are very proud of them.

The committee would like to congratulate Maria Nicol on recently completing her Junior Judging qualification. Maria has put in many hours of judging over the last year to achieve this qualification, on top of her coaching commitments.

We are incredibly grateful for the time and passion Maria has given to the club over the past 20 YEARS, and for all she continues to give. Thank you Maria. ✨

Congratulations to our gymnasts who competed at the CSG King’s Birthday competition over the long weekend in Christchurch. There were some great results across the board, well done everyone. As always a big thank you to our coaches and our judge for their time and thanks to CSG for hosting.

On behalf of the South Canterbury GymSports Committee I want to extend a huge congratulations to our coach Caitlin Buckley for recently completing the World Gymnastics Academy (formerly FIG) Level 1 course in Auckland! After an intensive five days of learning and assessment, Caitlin has officially earned her World Gymnastics Academy Level 1 Diploma - an internationally recognised coaching qualification.

Caitlin also recently achieved her GNZ Advanced Coach certificate, adding to an incredible year of professional growth. These accomplishments reflect not only the days attending the courses, but the countless hours of preparation, study and assignments both pre and post course.

We are so proud of Caitlin, who began her coaching journey with us over 10 years ago, and continues to give her time voluntarily. Thank you, Caitlin, for your commitment and passion you give to our club and our gymnasts.

Congratulations to all our gymnasts who attended the Affinity Junior & Senior Challenge over the weekend. It was the first ever competition for our new MAG Level 1 Boden and we hope he loved it. There were some fantastic performances and results from all our gymnasts and a few qualifying scores. Well done everyone ✨. Thanks to our judge and coaches for travelling to Rolleston and supporting our gymnast and a big thank you to Affinity Gymnastics Academy for hosting us, and for the podium photos 😊.
