Hi everyone,

Our junior rugby club needs more parent support to keep running successfully next season. At the moment, we are struggling to fill important organisation and volunteer roles, and without more people stepping up, there is a real possibility that some junior rugby programmes may not continue next year.

Many hands make light work, and even a small amount of time or help can make a huge difference for the kids and the club. Whether it’s helping with organising, game days, fundraising, coaching support, or committee roles, we need parents to get involved.

If your child enjoys being part of junior rugby, please consider how you can help support the club moving forward. We’d love to hear from anyone willing to be part of the organisation group for next season.

This afternoon I had the pleasure of heading along to our Year 5/6 game against Thames and from start to finish the atmosphere was nothing but positive.

The coaches, managers, whānau and supporters on the sideline all created such an awesome environment, and the players on the field showed great sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the game.

A special mention also to Ky, the 14-year-old referee from Thames, who was absolutely outstanding. He was fair, consistent, and took the time to explain calls to the kids as the game went on, helping them learn and improve while still keeping the game flowing. That kind of leadership and encouragement is so valuable in junior sport.

This was a real highlight of my week and a reminder of what grassroots rugby is all about — community, learning, respect, and having fun.

Thank you to Thames for being such a great team to host! 🏉
