🦶 Notice anything different about this squat?
No shoes. And there's a good reason for it.
Training barefoot is more common than people think, especially under a heavy bar.
Here's why:
✅ Better ground contact and balance
✅ Activates the small stabilising muscles in your feet and ankles
✅ Removes the elevated heel of most training shoes which can affect squat mechanics
✅ Improves proprioception, your body's awareness of where it is in space
✅ Creates a more solid, connected base under load
Not every session calls for it. But for squats, deadlifts and heavy compound work, going barefoot or in minimal shoes is worth experimenting with.
Remember to wear your shoes in and around the gym and slip them on and off as you need
This is looking like a it's going to be a nice lift! Well done. 💪
